Bman's Blues Report

 I just had the opportunity to review the most recent release, Soul Gone Blu' , from Paul Boddy and it's a rocking blues party. Opening with One Hundred Years , Paul Boddy on vocal and guitar sets a cool rhythm with Jack Daley on bass, Aaron Comess on drums, Rob Clores on keys and warm backing vocals by Jessie Wagner and Lynn Lockamy . Chonnie-On-Chon is a great boogie blues with Mikey Jr. wailing on harmonica and slick slide work by Boddy. Funky, Cussin', Cryin' & Carryin' On , is a real cool track featuring Jessie on lead vocal and she really brings it and Boddy's slide work is fat toned and rich giving it a retro Elvin Bishop /Johnny V feel. Very cool. Wrapping the release is Little Willie John 's Need Your Love So Bad excellent vocals by Boddy and rich slide work by Sonny Landreth . Warm backing vocals by Wagner and Lockamy adds a great feel to the overall track and Landreth takes it home with extremely nice slide soloing. Excellent closer.  ...

 I just had the opportunity to review the most recent release, Nosy Neighbors , from Paul Boddy & The Slidewinder Blues Band , and it's a cool, straightforward contemporary blues band. Opening with easy shuffle, Trouble Finds Me Everyday , Paul Boddy on lead vocal and guitar sets a solid platform, joined by Glenn Halo on keys, Chuck Hearne on bass and Dave Hollingsworth on drums. Another shuffle, Hanky Panky Blues has a real nice sway with a strong piano solo by Hale and excellent vocal by Boddy who adds some real nice slide. With it's cool Latin beat, title track, Nosy Neighbors , has strong radio appeal with a great melody, hot drum rhythm and real nice slide work by Boddy. Right Way Up is a real nice blues rocker with nice finger work by Boddy, a driving bass line by Hearne and strong backing vocals. Wrapping the release is Trash Can Head , a laid back bluesy rocker with super jammy piano by Hale, and a cool bass line by Hearne. Backing vocals aren't listed on the ...

 I just had the opportunity to review the most recent release, Friends of Tuesday, from Paul Boddy & The Slidewinder Blues Band and it's a cool rocking boogie release. Opening with Over The Hump , a cool rocker with attitude, featuring Paul Boddy on lead vocal and guitar. Chuck Hearne on bass, Glenn Hale on keys and Jim Bowman on drums. With it's firm straight ahead beat, it's a solid opener. Another solid blues rocker, Money on Love , has a cool country blues feel with strong vocal and slide work by Boddy and snappy drum rhythm by Bowman. With a southern rock swagger, Knock My Boots has plenty of kick and a JJ Cale energy. Bowman's tight drum rhythm and Boddy's slide work continue to set the theme for the release. Wrapping the collection is boogie shuffle, Pretty Kitty with a super bass line by Hearne and Mikey Jr. laying down some hot harp riffs.
