I started a quest to find terrific blues music and incredible musicianship when I was just a little kid. I also have a tremendous appreciation of fine musical instruments and equipment. One of my greatest joys all of my life was sharing my finds with my friends. I'm now publishing my journey. I hope that you come along!

Kimberly Allison Band, CIRCA (Ex-Yes Members) To Rock The Joint In West L.A. This Saturday

Ok... start the video, close your eyes and tell me what you hear... Steve Hunter... Ronnie Montrose ... Gary... no ... it's Kimberly Allison and she's about to collect!

*****MEDIA ALERT*****

WHO: Kimberly Allison Band in concert with CIRCA (featuring ex-Yes members Tony Kaye and Billy Sherwood)
WHERE: The Joint - 8771 W. Pico Blvd., Los Angeles - (310) 275-2619
WHEN: Saturday, August 11 - 8 p.m. Tickets $20.
WHAT ELSE: Highly-regarded Kimberly Allison is one of the most in-demand guitarists in the Los Angeles blues/rock/fusion music scene today. Allison - who is also a member of popular L.A. blues group, the Scorch Sisters - "wowed the Real Blues Festival 2 audience with her playing on opening uptempo shuffle "Blues For Barnaby" and a 'scorching' (excuse the pun) guitar solo on ballad "Still Remember," writes Casey Reagan from American Blues News. Allison has worked with saxophonist Joe Houston, singer Zola Moon, The Shirelles, and JJ "Bad Boy" Jones. Kimberly has toured the U.S. and Canada playing such venues such as the Portland Rose Festival, The Playboy Jazz Festival (Pasadena) and the Santa Monica Twilight Concert Series (sharing the stage with Roomful of Blues). In 1998, she was nominated in the "Outstanding Guitarist" category by the L.A. Music Awards. Kimberly's first solo CD, Old, New, Borrowed And Blues, received rave national revues and airplay as well as being picked up by national distributor, BDC. Kimberly is also an active educator with fifty-plus students a week.
Performing with Allison on Saturday night are Scorch Sisters keyboardist-vocalist, Alicia McCracken Morgan; Michael B. Holden on bass; and Art Mendoza on drums, with a very special appearance by Scorch Sisters dynamo lead vocalist, Francesca Capasso. Add rock royalty Tony Kaye and Billy Sherwood to the equation, and this promises to be a night of unforgettably great music!

As for Street's background: "I literally learned at the feet of some of the greatest first- and second-generation bluesmen during my time up at Centrum in Port Townsend, Washington. I would have to start with Louisiana Red who not only showed me slide and feeling in so many styles of blues, but also humanity and soul. To know him was to truly love him. John Cephas, the legendary Piedmont King was also more patient with me then perhaps I deserved. Honeyboy Edwards was fascinating. Kenny Sultan, Eddie Pennington. Carey and Lurie Bell, Phil Wiggins. I know I left out so many." www.reverbnation.com/calvinbstreets.

Excerpt from Will Phoenix's L.A. Examiner article: The ladies had all been working solo before they decided to form their blues band. Texas native Capasso moved to L.A. after high school having been interested in performing since childhood. She worked on the club scene and even sang background vocals for Motown Artist, Bobby Taylor at the CINE GRILL at The Roosevelt Hotel in Hollywood, California. It would not be until 2011-after a long Tuesday night residency performing with the Cats-A-Renos at The Pig n Whistle in Hollywood, that she would join forces with her friends as The Scorch Sisters.

Native New Yorker Morgan first worked as a session singer when she moved to the west coast. Her raspy blues-based vocals scored her gigs doing various commercial jingles and numerous songwriter demos. She was nominated for a 2010 Grammy for her work in the film Love n' Dancing which was produced by Bruce Robb of the Robb Brothers' Cherokee Studios. She would work with the musical Robbs yet again when she joined The Scorch Sisters.

Allison, originally from Missouri, has played in various venues since she was 16. She relocated to California and graduated from The University of Southern California having earned a degree in studio/jazz guitar (cum laude). Allison also graduated with honors from Musicians Institute (GIT), of Hollywood, CA. She was nominated as "outstanding guitarist" by the L.A. Music Awards and in 2001 was a finalist for the Independent Music Awards competition before eventually signing on with The Scorch Sisters in 2011.

A new Scorch Sisters CD is in the works and will be released on Kimberly Allison's Starliner Music label in the near future.
