St. Gabriel’s Celestial Brass Band was formed in 1990 by Drummer/Band Leader Tom Wiggins with many of his longtime musician friends.
Many of them are veterans of legendary international touring bands such as Herbie Hancock & the Headhunters, Rose Royce, George Clinton’s Parliament Funkadelics, Tower of Power, Malo, Sly & The Family Stone, James Brown, Etta James band, Prince, Jimi Hendricks, Van Morrison band, Hank Ballard & the Midnighters, Johnny Otis band, The Temptations, Janis Joplin, John Lee Hooker, Queen Ida, Bo Diddley, Chuck Berry, and countless other great bands. Some of the players proudly have Gold records hanging on their walls.
Since forming the band Tom has had the pleasure of taking it all over the world to perform with the most prominent names in American Jazz & Blues, Soul and Funk at world class Festivals and Music events.
The band originated with many transplanted New Orleans players and has attracted the attention of many superstar players over the yearss who have joined and contributed to the success of this band, and often return to play again.
As in all New Orleans Brass bands in history there is always an open door for great players to pass thru, have a good time with the players and music and yet be free to pursue other ventures. This attests to the ultra high caliber of the band and the individual players who choose to play with it. On any given performance the audience might be treated to a legendary performance by an All -STAR configuration that money could not buy.
Tom Wiggins has always competed with Quality and never Price with his Entertainment productions, and Promoters and producers of festivals and events have come to trust that when they call Tom to bring them a show it will be of the ultimate quality and a very hard act to follow.
