Feels Like Home - Barrelhouse - New Release Review
I just received the new release, Feels Like Home from Barrelhouse . The release opens with the title track, Feels Like Going Home , a finger picked blues style number with vocal harmonies. You Never Listen , played on Dobro in C Minor6 tuning has a quick pace and finger picking and slide work accompanying Burke on vocal. The Cadillac tells a cool little story in the style of the Appalachians but with a delta twist again using vocal harmonies. Day At The Beach has a very rudimentary style and one of the best tracks on the release. Bridge To Cross has some intricate picking in the style of Kottke. Eventually You'll Jump is a faster paced number with Burke's fingers pushing the pace. Nowhere In Sight keeps a solid middle ground in rural acoustic music. The instrumental Maine In October , has a very light and breezy feel to it played much in the upper octave of the guitar. Business As Usual is an acoustic boogie with vocal harmonies.
