I started a quest to find terrific blues music and incredible musicianship when I was just a little kid. I also have a tremendous appreciation of fine musical instruments and equipment. One of my greatest joys all of my life was sharing my finds with my friends. I'm now publishing my journey. I hope that you come along!

Bible and Tire Recording Company artist: the Dedicated Men of Zion - The Devil Don't Like It - New Release Review

I just had the opportunity to review the most recent release, The Devil Don't Like It, by the Dedicated Men of Zion and it's really strong. Opening with Lord Hold My Hand, I am immediately thinking this may be the best opening track on any new release I've heard this year. The Dedicated Men of Zion, Anthony Daniels, Antwan Daniels, Marcus Sugg and Dexter Williams really have this track chugging. Backed by Will Sexton on guitar, Matt Ross-Spang on guitar, Mark Edgar Stuart on bass and Al Gamble on organ, these guys are on fire. Rock My Soul is another terrific track with excellent soulful lead vocal and rich, deep background vocals. God's Got His Eyes on You is a strong revival style gospel track that is high in energy and full vocal blending. R&B track, I'm Going Home has a firm bass line setting the pace and strong lead vocal and blues guitar riffs by Sexton and warm organ work by Gamble gives this track pure radio appeal. Wrapping the release is soulful ballad, I'm A Soldier in God's Army. These vocals ooze emotion and the overall track is very powerful making it an excellent closer for a really good release.

Bible & Tire Recording Company artist: Johnny Ray Daniels - Whatever You Need - New Release Review

I just had the opportunity to review the most recent release, Whatever You Need, from Johnny Ray Daniels, and it's solid blues, R&B, soul and gospel. Opening with title track, Whatever You Need, Johnny Ray Daniels' silky smooth voice leads the way. With potent backing vocals by Anthony "Amp" Daniels and Keamber Daniels, Johnny Ray on guitar, Will Sexton on guitar and piano, Matt Ross-Spang on guitar, Mark Edgar Stuart on bass, Will McCarley on drums and Rick Steff on Hammond, this is a great opener. With a driving strut, God Is Able, is up next and Johnny Ray has just the perfect feel to deliver the song. Often I feel it isn't just melodic strength but timing and feel that makes or breaks a track and Johnny Ray has it. Lord You've Been Good To Me has a grat call and response between Johnny Ray, Amp and Keamber, Their vocal blending is solid and the feel of the track is warm and inviting. One of my favorite tracks on the release is Church Get Ready with it's pure gospel sound. Johnny Ray soulful lead vocal is smooth and Steff's Hammond work saddles the backing vocals nicely. Wrapping the release is Thank You Lord, sung A capella really with a minimal organ backing. Johnny Ray really gets the pipes humming over the solid backing of Amp and Keamber making this a terrific closer.
