Luca Burgalassi - Come To My World - New Release Review

I just had the opportunity to review the most recent release, Come To My World, by Luca Burgalassi, and it's a laid back Eric Clapton/JJ Cale style look at the blues. Opening with My Loving Babe, Burgalassi sings and accompanies himself on guitar and dobro, drums and harmonica. A cool, modern stroke at the blues with a dash of country gives this track a familiar feel. Solid opener. A lightly salted jazz track, All My Blues, has a snappy rhythm section of bass and drums under Luca's flight fretwork and lush vocals. Haunting, Notte is one of my favorite tracks on the release featuring Valentina Sorbera on piano and Holly Kirsten on strings. Ballad, Song In The Distance is a solid radio track with a rich melody and Luca accompanying himself primarily on guitar. Very nice. With a Muddy Waters like dobro slide riffs, and Rob Oliver on harmonica, The Real Me is a cool, updated blues track. Country swinger/gypsy swinger, Tidewater Attitude has traces of Dan Hicks and the Hot Licks or Squirrel Nut Zippers. It's energy and featured playing by Luca, Michael glass on vocal and guitar, Bobby Black Hat on vocal and harp, Valentina Sorbera on vocal, Holly Kirsten on vocal and violin, Rob Oliver on vocal and guitar and Pamela Jo Ward on dooo dooo makes for a lot of fun. Wrapping the release is Home, an instrumental ballad featuring Luca on vocal, guitar, mandolin, harmonica, accordion, bass and percussion. This is a cool release with a lot of texture.

Luca Burgalassi - On The Other Side Of The Water - New Release Review

I just had the opportunity to review the most recent release, On The Other Side Of The Water, from Luca Burgalassi and it's a cool, laid back fusion of blues, country, folk and jazz. Opening with title track On The Other Side Of The Water, Luca Burgalassi presents a soft, rich melodies and harmonies accompanying himself on guitar and harmonica, with Dave Hufstedler on bass, Gianni Apicella on drums and Valentina Sorberra on backing vocals. Soothing. One of my favorite tracks on the release is Blues In My Mind with a James Taylor like style. Trading electric guitar riffs with Franco Ceccanti gives the track an extra kick. Very nice. On Broken Heart Blues, a solid shuffle track, Burgalassi shares the mic with Resa Gibbs who adds real spice. Backing by Jackie Merritt on harmonica and Dave Hufstedler on bass gives the track texture. Easy flowing electric jazz number, Minor and Major Change has a real nice sway and understated but charged electric guitar soloing by Burgalassi and Ceccanti.Very nice. Wrapping the release is I've Got The Blues For Christmas, a clever pop track with a memorable melody, smooth instrumentation and featuring Fabrizio Poggi on harmonica. This is a smooth release with a lot of warm tracks.

Buffalo Bounce artist: Roughmax and the Steamrollers - New Release Review

I just had the opportunity to review the most recent release, Roughmax and the Steamrollers from Max Pieri and it's different. Opening with Candy Ass Blues (what a great name for a song) is a pop rocker with overdriven vocals and bass by Max, Luciano Lucky Pesce on piano, and Corrado D' Amato on drums. I Am Too Loose (I Want To Stand) is an interesting rocker with over the top drums and aggressive organ work by Pesce giving Max a strong top for his bass and vocals. Sebastiano Lillo adds an additional dimension on jazz rocker, Junk with his cool slide work. One of my favorite tracks on the release is somber ballad, Guilty with a subtle bass line, piano and lead vocal. This track is simple, yet strong. Very nice. High stepping instrumental, The Second Bite is lead by Pesce's electric keys and features strong bass lines by Max and drums by Amato. Very cool. Wrapping the release is Little Stone In My Pocket, a pop rocker with a driving beat. This release has characteristics of progressive, blues, classic, funk you name it. In any case, it's interesting.

Luca Burgalassi - Windward - New Release Review

I just had the opportunity to review the most recent release, Windward, from Luca Burgalassi and it's soothing and nicely styled. Opening with title track, Windward, Burgalassi leads the way on vocal and acoustic guitar with a smooth blend of backing vocals and instrumentation sounding a bit like James Taylor or an early Crosby /Nash composition. Nice start. With it's calypso rhythm, The Turn is next with a cool bass rhythm by Giacomo Bertaccini and solid percussion by Gianni Apicella. Next up with a smooth boss nova pace on Fields of Innocence, Matteo Fusaro adds clean piano as the track just glides on a cloud. The Sweetest Blues is one of my favorites with nice melodic turns and slick, blues fused guitar riffs and nicely melded vocal harmonies.  Don't Waste Your Time has the strongest radio style melody, complimented by additional harp work and nicely articulated acoustic guitar riffs by Burgalassi. On Down On Me, the band gets a really nice jazzy feel with a serious bass groove by Daniele Nannini. Solid vocal harmonies and well placed guitar riffs throughout this release really give it a special life. Wrapping the release is Winter Lady, another jazzy track but with the addition of banjo and steel guitar by Burgalassi giving it a euro country feel. This is a very nice closer to a very solid release.

Luca Burgalassi - Shadows and Fragments - New release review

I just had the chance to review the newest release, Shadows and Fragments by Luca Burgalassi and it's actually quite beautiful. Opening with Shadows, a softly sung ballad over acoustic guitar and electric guitars by Luca Burgalassi, strongly precise bass by Giacomo Bertaccini and light percussion by Ettore Fancelli this is a super melodic opener. Dust and Rust has an open country sound with nicely blended vocal harmonies with Burgalassi on dobro, banjo, guitar, mandolin and harmonica as well as lead vocals, Fancelli on drums, Mimo Pellegrini on bass, Stefano Lunardi on violin and Luca Bellofiore on accordion. An excellent track with nice harmonies, this is great stuff. Nicely arpegiated acoustic guitar and solid vocals are the secret to Dark Cherries and Wine with Franco Ceccanti on cello. With an intricate rhythm and tight electric guitar soloing, this is a cool track. Orange Rooms has a warm, adult vocal, jazzy sound with French cafe accordion and violin ambiance and slick acoustic guitar riffs. Highs and Lows is a bouncy pop track with a strong catchy hook. Lord Randal features Wedny Nieper and Burgalassi trading lead vocals over a somewhat classical sound created by Burgalassi on guitar and mandolin, Pellegrini on bass, and Stefano Lumardi on violin. Starless Night Blues is a real cool track with true jazz style blues guitar riffs. Really nicely presented under Burgalassi's vocals and Pellegrini on bass and Fancelli on drums, one of my favorite tracks on the release. Acoustic guitar instrumental, 34 Orange Road, is really nicely written and performed showing clearly Burgalassi's excellence in his art. Very nice. Wrapping the release is Fragments, a quiet ballad with emotive vocals and guitar accompaniment by Burgalassi, backed nicely by Cerranti on cello. A very solid track to conclude a very solid vocal release.

Epops Music artist: Mike Sponza - Ergo Sum - New release review

I just received the newest release, Ergo Sum, from Mike Sponza and I really like it. Opening with a R&B flavored Modus In Rebus, Sponza and Ian Siegal share the guitar and vocal spots with a cool texture of swamp and soul. Stinging guitar riffs, nice organ work by Dean Ross and tight rhythm by Mauro Tolot on bass and Moreno Buttinar on drums make this melodic opener a great start. Country blues rocker, Carpe Diem, pushes hard with solid structure and a real nice sax solo by Matej Kuzel. With a good dose of country and simple slices of slide guitar, Penelope has the flavor of Hey Jude, and sweet sax work by Kuzel. A definite radio track with a solid melody, this track is super. One of my favorite tracks on the release, The Thin Line, is a dark, jazzy track with Kuzel on sax, Chris Storr on trumpet and Ross on Hammond, features Dana Gillespie on lead vocal and has nicely interleaved slide work and jazz guitar chords giving it just the right amount of suspense. Very cool! Funky track, See How The Man, continues with pumped up horn work from Storr and Kuzel and a funky guitar rhythm under an almost poetic delivery of spoken lyrics. Very nice! Shuffle track, Poor Boy, is a super showpiece for Siegals's slide work and Ross does an excellent job on piano as well. Driving rhythm and a vocal duet by Sponza and Siegal gives this track a lot of spunk. Kiss Me is a solid foot stomper with solid vocals and a nice interplay between Siegal and Sponza on guitars. Wrapping the release is super soul track, Prisoner of Jealousy. Mustering vocals with Otis Redding intensity, and nicely backed by horns and Rob Cass on percussion, this is a terrific closer for a solid release.

David Pannozzo - A Portrait Of Jimi Hendrix - New Release Review

I just received the newest release, A Portrait of Jimi Hendrix, from David Pannozzo and it's really hot! Pannozzo, a superb guitar player guitar player from Italy has come up with a new set of material, Jimi played David style and it cooks. Opening with You Got Me Floating, Pannozzo's guitar has a lot of the snarl of Jimi as he captures the spirit of the man himself with Lello Somma on bass and younger brother, Simone Pannozzo on drums. During his guitar bridge he shows his European influence with more of a jazz fusion solo. Very Nice! Have You Ever Been (To Electric Ladyland) even finds Pannozzo with a falsetto voice and light airy guitar riffs. On the bridge on this track, Pannozzo keeps it a bit more straight up but adds in a bit of chorded funk. I really like Simone's Billy Cobham like drum work on this track. Really sweet! If 6 was 9 keeps a lot of the esoteric feel that Hendrix started but with a newer updated more bluesy twist. Some of the guitar sounds actually step into Jeff Beck territory and that is rare air. I really like it! Hendrix's most famous blues track, Red House is up next and it takes a little more traditional form. With a much more Robin Ford like approach, Pannozzo shows that he is not only a world class guitar player but also an super vocalist. This track not only has a lot of sting but flare with an educated jazz execution. Excellent! On quiet ballad May This Be Love, the track is executed with all of the finesse of a Marvin Gaye track with light accompaniment. Freedom kicks it into high with a strong bass line from Somma and Simone on drums. Pannozzo really gives the fretboard a workout on this track throwing his aggressive attack into it. Again Simone really captures the spirit of the original track giving this track extra bite. Very nice! Up next is one of my favorite Hendrix tracks, Little Wing. The vocals are handled a bit more melodically, but Pannozzo does a really nice job of putting his own spin on this classic. From the most delicate attack to the most ferocious ripper, this track is really tops! Wrapping the release is Hoochie Coochie Man with a cool funky jazz walk. Somma lays down a great bass line and David reinforces the beat with crisp riffs. This track really opens up with some fresh blues jazz guitar fusion work and Simone really shows he knows his way around the kit. This is a really exceptional release and one that I think all but the blues purists will enjoy!

Appaloosa Records artist: Fabrizio Poggi & Chicken Mambo - Spaghetti Juke Joint - New Release review

I just received the newest release, Spaghetti Juke Joint from Fabrizio Poggi & Chicken Mambo and it's a blast! Opening with Sonny Boy Williamson's Bye Bye Bird, Poggi on harp and lead vocals has the joint hopping already. Guitar riff master Enrico Polverari really drives the boogie and with reckless abandon... Boogie! Up next is Slim Harpo's King Bee with a New Orleans feel set up by the drum march styling of Gino Carravieri. Claudio Noseda lays down a really nice piano base and guitar slide king Sonny Landreth trades terrific riffs with Poggi. Excellent! Another boogie track, Little Milton's The Blues Is Alright is a special track being one of the best versions of this track that I have heard. Featuring the smooth guitar flair of Ronnie Earl, driving bass lines of Tino Cappelletti and strong back beat of Caravieri this track is cool! Original track, Devil At The Cross Road, has a real nice gait and stinging guitar riffs from Polverari. Excellent! On Junior Parker's Mystery Train, Noseda lays down some soft organ work and Poggi really lays on the harp. This is Chicago blues as it was when it was. Polverari shows he really knows how to grind the fretboard. Very cool! Tom Waits' Way Down In The Hole has a bit of a Latin feel and nice backing vocals. Poggi squeezes the harp with a seasoned hand, making it cry the blues. Again Polverari steps up and blows the doors open with his hot guitar riffs. Smooth. Sonny Boy's Checkin' Up On My Baby is a straight up 12 bar with a nice groove. Polverari takes full command with great blues riff prowess. Poggi lays back in the groove and rides the wave. Excellent! Blind Lemon Jefferson's One Kind Favor takes a Tex/Latin rhythm with strong blues overtones. Poggi handles vocals nicely and trades really slick riffs with Polverari making this one of the coolest tracks on the release. Bob Margolin feeds a hungry slide guitar on Mojo, a funky blues track backed by Noseda on organ. With excellent riffs from Margolin, Polverari and Poggi's classic harp styling, this track rocks! Even BB King's Rock Me Baby gets a taste of Latin. Noseda adds some New Orleans flavor with accordion and does a really nice job with a funky piano solo as well. Poggi and Polverari both take their turn on solo and never waste a note. Very nice! Nobody takes a very basic blues feel and builds it with rolling harp riffs from Poggi and additional lead vocals from Sara Cappelletti who really adds some spice. Polverari is hot on the frets with stinging lead guitar work and Tino C has the bass hopping. Another excellent track! I Want My Baby has strong New Orleans style rhythms reinforced by Stefano Spina on percussion and Claudio Bazzari on slide guitar. It needs to be pointed out that there is quite a bit of nice slide work on this release by a number of different players. Carravieri gets a chance to open up his drum kit for a tight solo... love it! Wrapping the release is Big Joe William's Baby Please Don't Go, in fairly traditional style but with back beat drumming by Carravieri. Poggi leads the way out on harp. This is quite an excellent release and one that I highly recommend.

Blue Cacao w/ Vissia Trovato - Brainstorm - New release Review

I just received the newest release, Brainstorm, from Blue Cacao with special guest Vissia Trovato. Opening with That Train Don't Stop Here Anymore, an uptempo light swinger, Vissia Trovato takes the lead on vocals and the setting is mostly Daniele Longo on Keys, Enzo Cafanga on bass and Dario Rezzola on drums. Dario Guidotti keeps a counter coming to the vocal and also takes a sweet sax solo. Another solo on guitar from Silvano Paulli isn't long but to the point. A light Latin influenced cover of McCartney/Lennon Can't Buy Me Love, is up next with Trovato and Guidotti sharing vocal leads. A strong pop jazz sound and electric key work from Longo are complimented by Guidotti on sax. A more explosive "electric" guitar solo by Paulli shows real contrast. All I Got Is You has a real moving R&B style with driving cowbell and rumbling bass. Again Longo plays really tasty piano lead solo and Guidotti shows real flare on sax behind Trovato's vocals. Care For You is a quiet ballad showing how delicate Trovato can manage her robust voice. A Stevie Wonder like harp solo by Guidotti is a cool accent. Very nice. My Baby Never Left Me is a light rocker with jazz touches. Cafagna plays some really nice bass lead under the melody of course by Trovato and Paulli rips a pretty nice guitar solo on this track as well. A remade version of Joplin's Mercedes Benz takes on a whole new face, sung by Trovato more in a gospel style. A cool walking bass line by Cafagna and warm harp riffs by Guidotti add significantly to this track. Longo again stretches on thie electric piano and his fingers can talk. On Fire has a really nice airey quality and possibly the coolest track on the release. This track seems to be written for Trovato and flute work by Guidotti is worked in perfectly. An uptempo key solo by Longo also adds another dimension. Mayall's Room To Move is given a bit more weight on the bottom but retains much of it's original spontaneity and harp lead. Guidotti actually has a similar voice to Mayall although with a different texture and style. Kansas Joe McCoy's Why Don't You Do Right has a really interesting take with a sultry vocal intro by Trovato. A funky beat with especially cooked drumming by Rezzola, a nice bass solo by Cafagna and a hot sax solo by Guidotti make this one of the more memorable tracks on the release. Route 66 has the driving road bass and drums chased by keys and sax. This has a much faster pace than the original and certainly a jazzier style. Cool arrangement. This is a cooker and everyone gets a chance to show what they've got. T-Bone Walker's Stormy Monday opening with flute? Yup, you got it, Guidotti knows how to make it sing and Trovato has just the right amount of power to deliver this blues classic. On to organ for this track, Longo shows that he understands the other side of the blues and lays it down here. Paulli adds a really smokey guitar solo on this track as well and I really dig his tone. Nice! The release is wrapped with Wild Wild Woman, more of a two stepper with a driving beat. This format gives Paulli a chace to run all over the fretboard and show some pyrotechnics. Although not a typical blues release, there are a lot of interesting things happening here and it's cool to get some different sounds with this kind of quality.

Enrico Crivellaro-Raphael Wressnig-Silvio Berger

It is hardly a surprise that his two latest albums, "Freewheelin" and "Mojo Zone", are often found in music stores next to Chet Atkins and Eric Clapton on the "guitar hero" shelf. Showcasing a mighty sounding guitar that manages to be at the same time refined and explosive, the two Electro-Fi releases have propelled Enrico Crivellaro into the upper echelons of blues-and-beyond guitar royalty. The definition of Guitar Hero might not be in harmony with Enrico's unassuming nature and with his genuine and humble devotion to music, but it serves to thoroughly depict the status of a guitarist who has earned international fame, and who is now considered to be one of the most influential of his generation, thanks to a style that bridges Blues with Jazz and American Roots Music. Among dozens of rave reviews of "Freewheelin" and "Mojo Zone", it might as well be Downbeat's 4-star lead review--which is in itself every musician's aspiration--the one that sums it all up. The world's most prestigious Jazz and Blues magazine, Downbeat notes how "inspiration, hypnotic feeling and emotional delicacy" permeates "the gold standard for blues instrumental albums" and predicts that Enrico's "stellar technique" will allow him to "conquer blues America". Born in Padova, Italy, but later relocating to Los Angeles, and now literally living in a suitcase and taking his music all around the world, Enrico Crivellaro has been able to prove that passion and talent can transcend political and cultural borders. In his quest to refine a guitar style that he developed in his teen years, Enrico flew to Connecticut to study with blues masters of the caliber of Ronnie Earl, Duke Robillard, Roy Bookbinder and Kenny Neal at the National Guitar Workshop. Some years later, while a student at the University of California, he embarked on a journey to the very essence of American music thanks to the courses taught by the director of the Jazz Department, guitar legend Kenny Burrell. Learning jazz from one of the men who invented it was a life-changing experience, which could only reinforce his already developed mindset of digging deeper and looking far beyond notes, scales, chords, where music becomes meaningful. He was always aware that books and lectures do not make a musician. After all, music is akin to an oral tradition, which is passed on from a generation to the next. The road and some sleazy club at 2am is where it's at, where everything comes together, where those notes finally make sense, where the old cats show how it's done. And that's exactly where Enrico could be found most of the time--whether in California, in Mississippi or in Chicago. He has learned his trade, in fact, the old way--by playing, literally, thousands of gigs everywhere, with some of the best artists in the contemporary blues scene. His touring, gigging and recording credits include an impressive array of internationally renowned artists, among them James Harman, Lester Butler of the Red Devils, Canadian icon Jeff Healey, Janiva Magness, Finis Tasby, Brian Templeton, Bruce Katz, the Royal Crown Revue (the band from "The Mask" movie), and legendary harmonica player Lee Oskar of WAR fame. Enrico's strength lies in his extraordinary versatility in different musical genres, which has allowed him to build an extraordinary experience playing with bands and artists of all extractions--soul jazz, country, funk and even zydeco--while keeping his playing firmly rooted in the blues language. His reputation is growing all over the world as he tours regularly from the Americas to Europe, to Australia, to Asia and even Polynesia, playing the most renowned clubs and festivals (among them: Livid Festival, Brisbane, Australia; 2000 Paralympics Games, Sydney, Australia; Philips Dubai International Jazz Festival, Dubai, UAE; Belgium Rhythm'n'Blues Festival; Lucerne Blues Festival, Switzerland; Southside Shuffle, Toronto, Canada; Montreal International Jazz Festival, Canada; Calgary International Blues Festival, Canada: Boston Blues Festival; Sacramento Heritage Festival, California; Tucson Blues Festival, Arizona; Moulin Blues Festival, Holland; Universal Blues Festival, Singapore; Manly Jazz Festival, Australia; and many, many more!) and having often shared the bill with the likes of John Lee Hooker, B.B.King, Mose Allison, and so forth. With good ears for good music, Enrico makes a valued producer. Besides his own albums, he has produced the fantastic "Right On Time" by Singaporean virtuoso Paul Ponnudorai, by many hailed as one of the best-sounding and most soulful solo guitar/vocals records ever made. Signed by the excellent Canadian-US label Electro-Fi Records in 2002, Enrico has debuted with a well-arranged CD, "Key To My Kingdom". His affiliation with Electro-Fi has opened the way to several opportunities--in fact Enrico has co-produced Finis Tasby's 2005 release "What My Blues Are All About" and has appeared at the Lucerne Blues Festival in 2003 with label-mate, the late great Mel Brown and his band, which then comprised Bob Stroger and Willie "Big Eyes" Smith of the Muddy Waters Band. "Mojo Zone" is a 2009 Electro-Fi release which features 70 minutes of genre expanding blues guitar instrumentals, and the very recent "Freewheelin" goes even further, showcasing the incredible sonic range of one of the most gifted young guitarists working on the blues scene today.

LeArt artist: Linda Valori - Days Like This - New Release Review

I just received the newest release, Days Like This, by Linda Valori. This is a 12 track set of strong mature R&B /Soul style music. Blending in Reggae and Ska beats Valori put out a real nice set of contemporary radio tracks demonstrating her solid voice and super tight backing band. Mike Wheeler plays some particularly hot riffs on I Idolize You. On The Way You Love Me ,Valori gets a bit of the New Orleans sound swing going with cool adds by Vincent Bucher on harp and Tim Gant on keys. My favorite track on the release is a very deep reaching version of Jealous Kind. Another cool cover is Move Over, which was one of Janis Joplin's trademark songs. Getting more of a radio horn treatment, it lacks the edge that Joplin brought, but still has a magic of it's own. Mike Wheeler steps up again with stinging guitar work on the really nice I Smell Trouble... the bluesiest track on the release Very nice! This is a very nice showcase of a solid singer who should find a solid audience on US soils.

I Got A Woman - Breezy(Fabrizio Rodio) with Linsey Alexander

Chicago is the blues capital of the world, and if recent popularity is any kind of benchmark, Linsey Alexander just might be the hottest sound in town right now. Born in Mississippi and raised in Memphis, Tennessee, Linsey Alexander discovered on Chicago's south side a down to earth city that truly understands and appreciates music. In much the same way as many great blues artists before him, he grew up in a poor but honest and hard working family, learning early on that music has the power to lift the spirit and comfort the soul. In Linsey's own words, "Blues music is not hard- it's just a documentary about life." His first guitar - a gift from a family friend who played on the front stoop of Linsey's home in Memphis - was never retrieved from the pawn shop where he left it almost 50 years ago. Using the money to help pay his way to Chicago, he now plays a variety of Gibson and Fender guitars, and since 1959, Linsey Alexander has been perfecting the art of entertainment blues for the sheer and simple pleasure of it. His easy smile and unpretentious personality define a charismatic entertainer who loves to perform; and perform he does! Although having played with B.B.King, Bobby Rush, Buddy Guy, Little Milton, Magic Slim Johnnie Taylor, A.C.Reed, Larry McCray, Bither Smith, John Primer, Otis Clay, Eddie Clearwater and other great blues performers., Linsey Alexander has remained resolutely true to his own style. His first cds release, Someone’s Cookin' In My Kitchen, My Days Are So Long and his latest realease If You Ain't Got It is a compilation of original Blues and R&B tunes. He is thankful for the good things in his life, and now at last, seems willing to realize that the friends who encouraged him to keep playing over the years may have known a thing or two about talent. Maybe, just maybe, he's ready to believe . Guitar Boogie - Enrico Crivellaro

My Life In Ruin - Chemako

Blackjack - Carlos Cafe

Carlos Café is playing since the seventies. Despite played different styles he always searched for true music, no matter the style he played.
He started playing Blues, then Rock and Fusion. In the early nineties he listened to Clapton´s record “From the Cradle”. After that experience he realized that he had to get back to his roots.
Since that moment he dedicated almost all his time to play the blues, but now, with all his knowledge, acquired in his many musical experiences.
Shortly the first ideas were emerging. That´s the origin of the CD
“Carlos Café & os Mestres do Blues” (Carlos Café & Blues Masters).
The project is a tribute to the musicians that more influenced him in his musical life. He wrote original arrangements to standards like Sweet home Chicago and Summertime and wrote original songs in tribute to Robert Johnson, BB King, Johnny Winter and Albert Collins. All of the songs have their own identity.
The arrangements were written based on the emotion that the song transmits, like Carlos says:”the story that the song tells us”. Despite that, the CD has a very unique identity.
Carlos summarizes:”The CD is a celebration of my maturity as a musician”.
The eleven tracks sound blues that came from the best references but with varied spices, like different accents of the same language.
It´s hard to write about music, it´s easier to listen to this record and let your heart explain you what good music can do.
Carlos Café just released his second solo CD, this time exploring blues style and classic rock, based on his extensive experience as a musician and composer. The name of his new CD is Bagagem Código Blues (Luggage Code Blues). There are eight original songs written by him and three standards with an original arrangement.

How Blue Can You Get - Guitar Ray & The Gamblers

Smokin’ guitarist and singer Guitar Ray went home to Italy to record his latest dvd, “As The Years Go Passing By”, and the result is an eclectic mix of styles that recalls the great masters of blues guitar, his biggest inspirations: T-Bone Walker, the great B.B. King, Johnny Guitar Watson and the Chicago guitarist Otis Rush. Born and raised in Chiavari, Italy, in 1963, Guitar Ray started to play music at the age of thirteen. He soon got his first real guitar, a Fender Strat, bought with his own pocket money and still with him after 30 years of career. Felt in love with the Blues after listening to the classic records of Jimmy Reed, Howlin Wolf, Muddy Waters, B.B. King, T-Bone Walker, he never stopped to keep the Blues alive. Soon after coming off the road, he got a call to do a tour with California Blues guitarist Otis Grand and everything changed: Otis wanted to produce “New Sensation” Ray’s first record, and the second, “Poorman Blues”, came naturally. Immediately top 5 on “Pool 2008 International” Blues News Germany, “Poorman Blues” is now receiving airplay in Europe and the United States. Guitar Ray’s style is that of elegant notes, of sudden accelerations and dynamics which recount his own life story and his everlasting love for the Blues. His particular “groove” is authentic and genuine which is always required by the idiom and his many prestigious collaborations and performances in Italy and abroad confirm his artistic stature. Guitar Ray and his band, The Gamblers, make a Blues mission of their travels around the world. The Blues as played by Guitar Ray reflects everyday life and his fascinating nuances will grab your attention like an great photograph, a wonderful book to read, or a life-passion to be lived intensely.

Keep Your Business To Yourself - Family Style

When you think about Italy, it's fair to assume that one thing you probably wouldn't associate it with is blues music.

Soccer, yes. Pasta, yes. Spaghetti Western, yes. But, the blues, no.

Well, PREPARE TO THINK AGAIN!

Family Style is coming and you'd better be prepared to have a cracking good time!

A real family band coming from a small town near Milano (Italy) called Arluno, Family Style were formed in 1994 by guitarist MARCO LIMIDO, to play the best Chicago Blues, steamy shuffles, topped by awesome harp and dynamic licks, & lots of swing (Blues Review)!

Together with younger brother FRANCO LIMIDO (Recorded with Robert Palmer) on vocals and harmonica, firts cousin DAVIDE BIANCHI on bass and the fascinating STEFANIA "Funky Mama" AVENALI on drums, Family Style launched themselves to the world's blues circuit, and have never looked back, they are simply the best!

Family Style have made many friends during their European tours in recent years. They are great guys, of course, but the secret of their success is phenomenal live playing.

Their gigs are technical master classes and, just as importantly, joyous celebrations of a music they so clearly love the natural blues (Nottingham Post).

Whether performing distinctive and thoughtfully original material or sensitively interpreting the work of others, Family Style's shows have been hailed as joyous celebrations played with outright swagger and confidence.

The band is currently on the road and about to celebrate the 15th anniversary around Europe (and not only...) with successful concerts in Belgium, Holland, Poland, Great Britain, Ireland, Malta, Hungary, France, Italy, Germany, Switzerland and more to come....

When You Lose Your Woman - Alex Caporuscio and S.B.C. Band

Alex Caporuscio continues the way that was planned by teachers as Albert Collins, Johnny Winter and Stevie Ray Vaughan, for naming some. The group was founded by Alex Caporuscio in Italy in the year ' 91, and in ' 95 Mr. Caporuscio decides to move to Spain, prompt where it starts moving for the circuit of Madrid.

Alex, singer and guitarist, is born in London in ' 73, of Spanish mother and Italian father. At the age of six it begins his journey in the world of six ropes with the help of his grandfather, guitarist and singer of the "Celtys" and accompanist of big artists of the folk Spanish music.

At the age of fifteen Alex discovers a new world on having heard for the first time John Lee Hooker. Rapidly he feels the call, and gets soaked in the blues of B.B. King and Albert King between others. It does with an electrical guitar and starts touching in groups of Blues. On having done with something of stage, it mounts " Alex and the Boll-Weevils " and acts for Rome, Naples, Bologna and Florence. In a festival in the province of Rome, there was raised to the stage, in full performance, the respected saxophonist of jazz Mauro Zazzarini, got enthusiastic with the group. Immediately after this meeting Alex was incorporated like invited in Big Band of R ' and ' B de Zazzarini.

After several changes of musicians, and of countries, Alex decides to mount a group that more of he 'says' with original compositions, not forgetting the learned lesson of the 'big ones'. When it comes to Madrid and starts touching in the circuit, with his band or doing collaborations with musicians of the height of Steven Adler (ex-Guns'n'Roses), Ñaco Goñi, Noel Soto, Velma Powell, Javier Vargas, To love Sundy, Network House or TresMil Hombres (Vacazul), the public remains amazed along with filled with enthusiasm with his way of interpreting his music. A local newspaper says of him:
" Marvellous musician, with an amazing fingering, seemed as if his guitar was the extension of his arm, part of the same body. Real musical juggler, sometimes it might think that his there is mere exhibitionism, vacuous virtuosity, but this sensation stays deshechada immediately on having verified the soul and the intensity that it puts to everything what it touches. A wild animal, go. If to that a rhythmic sweeping section is added, of big given, there is obtained like turned out a group that, more that as a perfectly greased machine, it sounds as an authentic armored car, as a road roller of the Rhythm 'n' Blues. The sounds that are listened are granitic, full of energy. The base of his repertoire is constituted by proper topics, of big taste, and versions, including styles that go from the Blues to the progressive Rock, happening for the atomic Funk or the hard boogie tejano like Stevie Ray Vaughan or ZZ Top. "
