Bman's Blues Report

I just had the opportunity to review the most recent release, Fallen Angels , by Early Times & The High Rollers   and it's a cool blues rocker. Opening with Walk Out On Me , Early Times on lead vocal, organ, guitar and percussion leads the way on this cool track with a distinct, early British blues sound. Joined by Jeremy  Portwood on drums and Conrad Korsch  on bass, this is a cool opener. Pop rocker, Bedroom Eyes , has a solid melody giving Early clear way to show his vocal styling and a great avenue to stretch on guitar as well. Solid. Slow ballad, Abandoned Child is one of my favorite tracks on the release with soulful vocals by Early who accompanies himself on organ and arpeggiated guitar, joined by Portwood and Korsch. Chriscell Eminizer on sax and Tim Ouimette on trumpet and flugelhorn really gives the track an authentic 60's sound. Another track with a real retro sound is Bad Things .  I just had the opportunity to review the most recent release, Electric City , from Early Times & the High Rollers and it's a mix of pop, rock and soul. Opening with Aloha, Leilani , a radio track with a cool walking bass line by Conrad Korsch, and keys by Brian Mitchell. Early times handles the lead vocal and guitar and Anton Fig rounds out the crew. On slow boogie, Heartbreak Insurance , Korsch sets the pace on droning bass and Times vocals lay in nicely. High energy, Bonnie and Clyde is my pick from the release with a cool country rock blend, not unlike the band with great vocal work by Times, Eliza Neals and Colleen Messina. Albert King influenced, Dark Chocolate has some real nice blues guitar riffs and solid soul fused lead by Times. Very nice. Wrapping the release is funky instrumental, Succubus with fluid guitar lead and fat fat organ soloing and tight drum rhythms over a great bass line.  I just has the opportunity to review the most recent release, The Corner , from Early Times & the High Rollers and it's a cool rocker. Opening with easy shuffle, Come On, Let's Ride , Early Times on vocal and guitar is upfront with Joshua Keith on drums, Dan Schnapp on keys and Hardan Long on bass. On The Corner maintains a lighter radio feel but with bluesy guitar riffs by Times and a solid drum bottom by Keith. Sixties style rocker, Do What She Do keeps it simple with a solid melody and simple beat. A strong radio track and a cool track. Bluesy, She's About To Lose Her Mind , grinds into a lumbering groove with nice piano and organ work by Schnapp under some of Times' best vocal work and some real tasty guitar riffs by Popa Chubby making this one of my favorites on the release. Instrumental, Rosie's Herbs 'n Ting is a light, jazzy rocker with a hint of Latin spice giving Times a nice chance to step out on guitar over the tight percussive rhythms of J...
