Zac Harmon & The Drive - Live - New Release Review

Image
I just had the opportunity to review the most recent release, Live , from Zac Harmon & The Drive and it's super! Opening with soulful, NTRO , Nate Robinson on bass and Gino Iglehart on drums set a solid foundation, with Corey Lacy building on keys and lush guitar work by Zac Harmon and Kingston Livingston really setting the bar. Terrific opener. Blue Pill Thrill has super movement and soulful vocals by Harmon. Lacy on keys works the rhythm with Robinson and Iglehart and Livingston and and Harmon play stinging riffs on guitar really giving this track some kick. Deep blues track, Feet Back On The Ground features Albert King like stinging riffs and super soulful vocals by Harmon. Keeping the music floor low allows Harmon plenty of space to go dynamically from soft to wow quickly adding real emotion to the track. Excellent! Boogie Down is a strong jam with a firm piano base by Lacy giving Harmon plenty of headroom for vocal corralling. Lacy lays in some real tasty keyboar...

I started a quest to find terrific blues music and incredible musicianship when I was just a little kid. I also have a tremendous appreciation of fine musical instruments and equipment. One of my greatest joys all of my life was sharing my finds with my friends. I'm now publishing my journey. I hope that you come along!

I'm A Tiger - Tokyo Tramps - New Release Review

Image
I just had the opportunity to review the most recent release, I'm A Tiger , from Tokyo Tramps and it's a pop blues rocker. Opening with I'll Stay And Take Care of You , a rocking track with a cool back beat features Satoru Nakagawa on vocal and guitar, Yukiko Fujii on bass, keys and vocals and Tim Carman on drums, percussion and vocals. Pop ballad and title track, I'm A Tiger features Fujii on lead vocal and shimmery guitar work by Nakagawa on guitar. Long Day has a cool New Orleans flavor with funky drums and percussion work by Carman and grinding blues guitar ruffs by Nakagawa. Wrapping the release is instrumental, Lovin' Man , with it's quiet ballad like form and featuring Nakagawa on lead guitar melody.  Overdubbing additional guitar soloing in layers, this is a cool closer.    If you support live Blues acts, up and coming Blues talents and want to learn more about Blues news and Fathers of the Blues, Like ---Bman’s Blues Report--- Facebook P...

Tokyo Tramps - If I Die Tomorrow - New Release Review

Image
I just had the opportunity to review the most recent release, If I Die Tomorrow , from Tokyo Tramps and it's a cool and unusual mix of rock, blues and progressive music resulting in unique and enjoyable mix. Opening with Flowing Water , a cool rocker with a great beat, lead guitarist Satoru Nakagawa sets a theme and bassist Yukiko Fujii and Tim Carman on drums set a firm bottom. Cool opener. If I Die Tomorrow has interesting roots with construction not unlike the great Mountain or Hendrix, with it's heavy bottom by Fujii and screaming guitar work by Nakagawa. I really like Carman's drum attack and the Hendrix like overall feel on the track with Fujii adding keys. Very cool. Reverb saturated ballad, Woman is sensitive with a strong blues feel. Nakagawa doesn't pull any punches with his suspended guitar noted and screaming lines. Really nice. Misty Forest is one of my favorite tracks on the release with it's aggressive guitar lead and tight drumming. Nakagawa r...
