💿 ALBUM REVIEW: Ronnie Baker Brooks - Blues In My DNA

Image
Ronnie Baker Brooks is a powerhouse Chicago blues guitarist, vocalist, and songwriter who carries the torch of a legendary musical lineage. Born into blues royalty as the son of Hall of Famer Lonnie Brooks, Ronnie didn’t just inherit the music—he lived it. He cut his teeth learning directly from master icons like B.B. King, Albert Collins, and Willie Dixon. Today, the multiple Blues Music Award winner seamlessly blends authentic Chicago roots with a high-octane mix of rock, funk, and soul. “I’m blessed to have learned from the best,” Brooks says. “I’m carrying them within me.” 🎵 LISTEN & SUPPORT THE ALBUM ▶ Listen to Album Samples (Click to Expand) Add this Record to Your Collection Available on CD and in Digital Formats. 🛒 Buy Album on Amazon Store As an Amazon Associate, Bman earns from qualifying purchases. Blue Lotus Recordings artist: Boo Boo Davis - Boo Boo Boogaloo - New Release Review

Image
I just had the opportunity to review the most recent release, Boo Boo Boogaloo , from Boo Boo Davis and it's a cool mix of blues and boogie. Opening with Chicago blues, Little House By Myself , Boo Boo Davis on harmonica and vocal leads the way with LA Jones on guitar, Adrianna Marie on bass, Chris Millar on drums. Davis really does a nice job and complimented by a solid solo by Jones, this is a great opener. Blues On My Mind is one of my favorites on the release with soulful vocals by Davis. Marie has a dominant bass line keeping the pace and Davis' harmonica solo works really nicely with Jones' own guitar phrasing. Very nice. Title track, Boo Boo Boogaloo is a terrific authentic JLH style boogie. Kick back and enjoy. Slow blues, I Got The Crying Blues is another of my favorites with soulful vocals by Davis and really nice guitar phrasing by Jones. Wrapping the release is Latin flavored, J ungle Bump with a cool bass line by Marie, Cool percussion by Millar, Paul Nie...

Wild About You Baby - Boo Boo Davis

Image
He was born and raised in Drew, Mississippi in the heart of Delta. It was the richest cotton land in the South and the large amounts of field workers attracted the best musicians from the surrounding areas. The entire Delta region was rich with blues, but the town of Drew was a particularly fertile one. Charley Patton stayed near Drew for many years and several legendary performers spent time there. Sharecroppers sang loudly to help pass the grueling hours of work and without a doubt Boo Boo developed his loud, bellowing voice based on the singing he heard in the fields as a young boy. In fact, that voice, through the years has demolished many amps and speaker cabinets. Boo Boo's father, Sylvester Davis farmed cotton and played several instruments. Musicians who he played with include John Lee Hooker, Elmore James and Robert Pete Williams. Boo Boo remembers these and other musicians dropping by and rehearsing at their house. At the age of five Boo Boo was playing the harmonica a...
