VizzTone Label Group artist: Tyler Morris - Living In The Shadows - New Release Review

Image
I just had the opportunity to review the most recent release, Living In The Shadows , from Tyler Morris , and it's a cool blues rocker. On this, his second release, Morris plays lead guitar and sings with band mates Terry Dry on bass, Matthew Robert Johnson on drums and Lewis Stephens on B3 and Wurlitzer. Gary Moore's hard driving rocker, Movin' On , sees the band on full tilt with Morris throwing every rock based riff you can think at it. Quick fingered runs, and bends with just a bit of distortion to make it sound dirty gives this track it's sting. Joe Louis Walker and Mike Zito guest on vocals on Tony Joe White's Polk Salad Annie . Maintaining that original swamp rock feel this is a cool track with Morris working the slide nicely  over the steady drumming of Johnson. Bluesy ballad, Temptation , is Morris' best showcase of his vocal strength and Stephens' B3 enhances the tension giving Morris a nice platform to play melodic blues runs on guitar. Amanda...

Vizz Tone Label Group artist: Amanda Fish - Free - New Release Review

Image
I just had the opportunity to review the most recent release, Free , from Amanda Fish and it's cool. Fish takes a raw pop edge with soul to create her own voice. Opening with 2020 , a funky blues track Fish kicks off her shoes and captures that southern rock Muscle Shoals" feel with Dave Hays on guitar. Cool opener. Boogie track, Not Anymore has a great driving bass line and with Richard Rosenblatt spicing up the track on harp. Boogie! One of my favorite tracks on the release is Anymore with really nice soulful vocals and Chris Hazelton joining on organ. Blessed is full blown gospel style soul with Sarah Morgan on backing vocals and Ken Valdez on guitar. Alastair Greene kicks it into high gear on rocker, Going Down with super slide guitar. Very cool. Powerful soul ballad, You Could Be shows just how gripping Fish's vocals can be when she digs down and she does dig. Coyote Bill adds some hot flashes on guitar joined by Hazelton on organ. Hot and heavy. Another boog...

Hector Anchondo Band - Roll The Dice - New Release Review

Image
I just had the opportunity to review the most recent release, Roll The Dice , by Hector Anchondo Band and it's quite good. Opening with Dig You Baby , a cool boogie, Hector Anchondo on guitar and lead vocal leads this cool band. Featuring Amanda Fish and joined by Justin Shexlton on harp, Khayman Winfield on drums, Josh Lund on bass and Matt Russo on percussion this band is cooking. On title track,   Roll The Dice , the band has a cool light funky jazz feel with nicely blended vocals and a Shexlton gets the harp going pretty good leading to a explosive guitar solo by Anchondo. These guys know how to lay down a pretty nice boogie woogie with a super bass line by Lund. Hector's vocals on this  Face It Down  really remind me quite a bit of Steve Miller so I think that it shows real radio potential and his guitar work is fresh and loose. Very cool. Sometimes Being Alone Feels Right is a cool, bluesy, ballad with smooth vocals and super round guitar tones. Very...
