💿 ALBUM REVIEW: Leigh Pilzer - Keep Holding On

Image
Get ready to groove with Dr. Leigh Pilzer , the Washington, D.C. baritone sax powerhouse who proves that jazz is meant to be a living, breathing party, not a dusty museum piece. Described as a pure force of nature with a gruff, punchy, and assertive sound, Leigh brings a heavy dose of soulful grit to the stage. She has traded licks with the legendary Smithsonian Jazz Masterworks Orchestra and even arranged horns for local legends like Chuck Brown and Eva Cassidy , and now she is bringing that deep, soulful swagger front and center with her vibrant new album, Keep Holding On. This record is a masterclass in pure, undeniable groove, packed with plenty of attitude, low-end bark, and raw energy that blues fans will instantly appreciate. Keep Holding On strikes the perfect balance between paying respect to the jazz heritage and absolutely cutting loose, making it an essential, high-energy addition to your playlist.   🎵 LISTEN & SUPPORT THE ALBUM   Keep Holding On by Leigh ...

Black Market III--formed by Scottie ‘Mad Dog’ Blinn, front man for the multi-award winning iconic San Diego band The Mississippi Mudsharks. Black Market III has quickly turned into a red hot band focused on playing hard hitting, soulful Blues, American Roots, and Grease Punk (the vein of Social Distortion and the Clash). BMIII is being touted as "the band to watch" by Dave Good of the San Diego Reader, and was just nominated for a 2012 San Diego Music Award. Their first full length CD, 'Songs That Shake the Cage' was released in the summer of 2012, accompanied by European and U.S. touring. Black Market III crosses over, using the Blues as the root of the sound. In addition to their original music, BMIII features more obscure covers from Tom Waits, Wayne Walker, Hank Williams Sr., Leadbelly, Dead Weather, Social Distortion, and many more. No pigeon holing this band--Blues and American Roots firmly planted, yet not like anything you've heard or seen before. ...
