Zac Harmon & The Drive - Live - New Release Review

Image
I just had the opportunity to review the most recent release, Live , from Zac Harmon & The Drive and it's super! Opening with soulful, NTRO , Nate Robinson on bass and Gino Iglehart on drums set a solid foundation, with Corey Lacy building on keys and lush guitar work by Zac Harmon and Kingston Livingston really setting the bar. Terrific opener. Blue Pill Thrill has super movement and soulful vocals by Harmon. Lacy on keys works the rhythm with Robinson and Iglehart and Livingston and and Harmon play stinging riffs on guitar really giving this track some kick. Deep blues track, Feet Back On The Ground features Albert King like stinging riffs and super soulful vocals by Harmon. Keeping the music floor low allows Harmon plenty of space to go dynamically from soft to wow quickly adding real emotion to the track. Excellent! Boogie Down is a strong jam with a firm piano base by Lacy giving Harmon plenty of headroom for vocal corralling. Lacy lays in some real tasty keyboar...

Bigfoot Records artist: AG Weinberger - Reborn - New Release Review

Image
I just had the opportunity to review the most recent release, Reborn , by AG Weinberger and it shows a smooth transition from earlier hard core blues to a more relaxed and flexible release. Opening with Willie Dixon's Wang Dang Doodle , AG Weinberger's approach has a cool jazz feel with light piano and double bass by Hars Viktor under his smoky vocals it's a different approach that I haven't heard and I like it. His guitar soloing is much more progressive with a more improvisational and less traditional approach... actually breaking time and going into a running jazz line. Excellent opener. With a bit of New Orleans funky jazz, Cseke Gabor on piano and excellent drums rhythms by Pusctai Csaba, Sweet Little Number is a great platform for Weinberger's R&B vocal approach. Very nice. On shuffle track, The Fool's Lucky Day , Weinberger approaches 50's bebop jazz and both his vocals and guitar are up to it pared with Bob Margolin on slide guitar. This is...

Bigfoot Records artist: AG Weinberger - Mighty Business - New Release Review

Image
I just had the opportunity to review the newest release, Mighty Business , from AG Weinberger and it's a screamer! Opening with Muddy Waters' Baby Please Don't Go , AG is setting the stage for a red hot blues rocking concert. Backed by Sorin Petrila on rhythm guitar, Vlad Spatar on bass and Miklos Orban on drums, Weinberger handles lead vocals and guitar like a Johnny Winter. Excellent! Adding a bit of funk to a basic R&B style track, Try To Get Into The Middle Of The Real , is damn funky. I really like Spatar's bass chops and backing vocals drive this into Funkadelic land. This is a terrific groove and has plenty of room for some luscious guitar work. I Can't Get Enough takes the train up the southern rock route with a bit of southern swagger. Slowing it down and getting gritty on Sam Taylor's, Mother Blues , Weinberger shows his extremely soulful and fluid guitar lead. This is an excellent track and one that will sit you back in your chair! Classic fu...

He is acknowledged as a real national musical treasure in Romania. In May 2000, AG is leaving Romania for a “cultural exile" in the USA. Upon his arrival he got into the Chicago club circuit – worked for Son Seals, Laurie Bell, Pistol Pete, Chico Banks, Willie Kent & The Gents - then moves to NYC and performs in Decade, Bitter End, Red Lion, Stone Pony. Then he got hired by Sandie Brooks - country singer from Nashville, TN for a national tour which goes all over the US. Finally he settles in Las Vegas. AG's first American album was recorded at the beginning of 2005, in Nashville, TN and in Seattle, WA being produced by Tom Hambridge (Lynyrd Skynyrd, Johnny Winter, Bonnie Raitt, Susan Tedeschi, Delbert McClinton, Johnny Lang, etc.) If you support live Blues acts, up and coming Blues talents and want to learn more about Blues news and Fathers of the Blues, -  ”LIKE” ---Bman’s Blues Report--- Facebook Page!
