 I just had the opportunity to review the most recent release, Hard Case of the Blues by Patty Tuite  and its a full hand of country, blues and rock tunes. Opening with Nothin' But Trouble , Patty Tuite is upfront on lead vocal and rhythm guitar, with real nice slide guitar by Paul Nelson, harmonica by Bobby Rush, and with Jeff Armstrong on drums and David Johnson on bass. Glad I'm Through With You has a vampy, New Orleans blues sound with Brooks Milgate on keys, Rico Amero on trumpet and Justin Blackburn on drums. My Silent Love is a real nice track with Tuite layering her own guitar playing over her own guitar playing. This track is very soothing and may be my favorite on the release. Jazzy shuffle, I Want A Lover , features Milgate on piano providing a solid lead line under Tuite's sultry vocals with Paul Loranger on bass and Blackburn on drums. I just had the opportunity to review the most recent release, Over Under Through , from Paul Nelson and it's interesting. Opening with Go Down Ezekiel , a floating track with solid but JJ Cale like vocals by Nelson, seductive slide work by Kevin Barry and tom tom by John Sands, this is a real nice opener. My choice for radio track on the release is Secret with a really nice melody and vocals and nicely interwoven guitar and steel guitar parts over light snare drum. My favorite track on the release is an interpretation of Johnny Cash's I Walk The Line with a remarkable arrangement, nice vocal harmonies with Kristin Cifelli, Ellis Paul and Nickie Fuller and reverb saturated guitar. Excellent! Lumbering rocker, Silent Majority , has a really nice feel with solid vocals and a super arrangement. This track, again with superior vocal qualities and rich guitar backing make it an ideal radio track. Wrapping the release is somber ballad, There Is Weeping , with Nelson singing upf...

I just had the opportunity to review the most recent release, 10000 Feet Below , by Eliza Neals and it's quite cool. Opening with a pop blues number, Cleotus , featuring Eliza Neals on vocal and Howard Glazer on guitar and slide. A cool opener with solid roots. On Another Lifetime , Glazer lays down a real nice guitar intro for a steamy blues ballad. Neals' vocals are strong and Glazer's guitar work is tight, backed by Skeeto Valdez on drums, Paul Randolph on bass solid keyboard work by Neals. On rocker, Burn The Tent Down , Glazer's guitar work is raspy and overdriven, nicely complimenting Neals vocals. On boogie style track, You Ain't My Dog No More , Brian Clune leads the way on drums with John Abraham on bass and with hot slide riffs by Glazer, delivers a hot number with a Thorogood flavor. Very cool. A solid pop entry, Cold Cold Night features Paul Nelson on guitar and nicely blended vocals not unlike Buckingham Nicks. Unbridled guitar playing is the tick...

I just had the opportunity to review the most recent release, The James Montgomery Blues Band , from James Montgomery and it's a cranking homage to Paul Butterfield. Opening with funky rocker, One More Heartache , Montgomery blows the doors open with his always powerful harp, backed by George McCann on guitar, David Hull on bass and Jeff Thompson on drums and punched up by the Uptown Horns including Crispin Cloe on sax, Larry Etkin on trumpet, Arno Hecht on sax and Bob Funk on trombone. Super opener. Nick Gravenites' Born In Chicago gets a bit more bounce that Nick's original and McCann sports a real nice guitar solo opening the way for Montgomery's harp solo. Very cool. Little Walter's Blues With A Feeling is solid and Montgomery's vocals are raw and gritty.
