In Russell's distinguished and unique 50 year career he has played on, arranged, writter and/or produced some of the best records in popular music with his gospel-infused southern boogie piano rock and blues music. Russell was recently featured in HBO documentary "The Union" about his duet album with Elton John and why Elton John calls him his idol in music.
