I started a quest to find terrific blues music and incredible musicianship when I was just a little kid. I also have a tremendous appreciation of fine musical instruments and equipment. One of my greatest joys all of my life was sharing my finds with my friends. I'm now publishing my journey. I hope that you come along!

I Can't Let Go - The Suntones

Formed in 2009 in Fremantle Western Australia the Suntones are a four piece country/blues roots based band currently playing in and around Perth WA. The line-up is Chris Harwood -Acoustic upright bass/vocals, Steve Smith acoustic guitar/mandolin/vocals, Jeff Barham - Acoustic/Electric guitar, mandolin, Dobro and vocals, Andrew Smith - drums. The Sun Tones play a wide range of songs including country influenced originals and roots based covers that appeal to a diverse audience. The general approach is low volume and we specialise in unplugged or totally acoustic performances but are also comfortable in the electrified format. Our influences include The Dingoes, Steve Earle, Paul Kelly, Carl Perkins, JJ Cale, Lucinda Williams and Little Feat. The Suntones recently returned from a successful tour of the 2012 Tamworth Country Music Festival where they impressed audiences with their catchy originals and quirky covers. The Suntones first Album titled "In the Valley" contains songs penned by band members Steve Smith and Jeff Barham and was recorded at Witzend Studio in O'Connor Western Australia in 2011. The songs on this album have a very roots based approach with only acoustic instruments used. The album includes songs about Rodeo Riders, doomed relationships and even a murder ballad which is the title track. Live The Suntones give a tongue in cheek but well-honed performance with the emphasis on fun. You can purchase the album at gigs or on online at most online music stores.
