She is also an accomplished industry songwriter, having penned tracks for major artists like Diana Ross and Patti Austin.

Opening with shuffle, I Still Got The Blues, Vaneese Thomas is driving the band with soulful vocals and her own keyboard work. With Paul Adamy on bass, Al Orlo adding some stinging guitar riffs,Ross Pederson on drums and backing vocals by Kati Mac, Angela Clemmons, Jason L. Terry and Emily Bendiger, this is a driving opener. I'm A Diamond is a solid radio track with a great melody and potent vocals by Thomas. Nicely adorned guitar work by Orlo really dresses the track nicely and Pederson's patient rhythm work gives the track a rock solid feel. Ain't Gonna Be No One's Fool is my favorite track on the release with a really nice groove. Thomas' vocals are rich and backing horn work by Tim Quimette on trumpet, Cliff Lyons on tenor sax, John Isley on bari sax really gives the track a pure richness.
Ain't No Reason (For A Man Like You), is a real high stepper with an active bass line by Adamy and super harmonica bylines by Rob Paparozzi. Orlo gets loose with a few nice guitar riffs but this is a real booty shaker. That's A Woman really settles down as a strong ballad featuring Thomas' super vocal and style. Warm organ by Dave Keys really frames her vocals nicely and a sweet guitar solo by Orlo dresses the track perfectly.
Wrapping the release is Living With A Lie with a taste of 40's jazz presentation. With a tight bottom courtesy of Pederson and Adamy and smooth solos on clarinet by Andy Drelles and Quimette on trumpet this is a solid closer for a real nice release.
