This new release by Chris alludes to many different influences like Ry Cooder and Al Green (conscious or not)but nothing sounds like a copy. It's fresh and cool and has a great sound. There are a couple of ballads, a number of traditional blues tunes and a few so R&B influenced that seriously could be right out of the Stax collections with horns and all. Chris has a plucky guitar style with a nice touch on the slide but can get gritty and sound authentic on the traditional blues groove with old style riffs paying respect to those that came before him.
