One of my greatest joys all of my life was sharing my finds with my friends. I'm now publishing my journey. I hope that you come along!

“I first heard Dave Riley and Bob Corritore perform together at the King Biscuit Festival in 2009. Dave captivated the audience with his original songs, fine Mississippi-flavored singing and guitar, and friendly stage presence. And Bob’s masterful full-toned Chicago harp and strong ensemble playing charged each song with deep blues.  Together they have crafted a sound completely unique to these two experienced blues players. This, their 3rd CD, upholds and advances their tour-tested formula. Come and get it from Dave and Bob. It’s not a history lesson or the same old stories. It is modern day down-home juke joint blues performed by two creative masters”

SWMAF Records artists: Dave Riley and Bob Corritore - Hush Your Fuss! - New Release Review

I just received the newest release (September 17, 2013), Hush Your Fuss!, from Dave Riley and Bob Corritore and is got a great groove! Opening with title track Hush Your Fuss!, a track right from the delta, Riley's gravely voice and Corritore's harp punctuation keep this acoustic brother to Nobody's Fault But Mine on track. Baby Please Come Home has a strong Chicago feel with a more electric sound and Brian Fahey on drums. A smooth Chicago swing gives Corritore a nice opening to play solo. On No Cussin', the men take a Morganfield road and Corritore again plays some real nice harp work in support of Riley's great vocals. Dave "Yahni" Riley Jr. pushes the band along on bass on this very traditional sounding track. Snuff Drippin' Woman has a nice slow pace giving Corritore the opportunity to dig in deep on a gripping harp solo. Riley has authentic blues vocal feel and delivery with clean complimentary guitar riffs. On R&B style track Mississippi Po Boy, Riley shows some of his best vocals on the release. This is a track that should easily garner airplay. Also stepping up a bit on guitar, Riley articulates cleanly. Home In Chicago has a traditional 12 bar feel and keeps it simple with crisp harp riffs from Corritore. Again stepping up on guitar, Riley shows that he knows his way around the fretboard. Hard Headed Woman has the traditional "Train" rhythm lead by Fahey on drums and nicely complimented by Corritore. Happy As A Man Can Be is a cool boogie track with boppin rhythm guitar from Riley and solid harping from Corritore behind Riley's vocals. Both Corritore and Riley play some of their best riffs on the release and Corritore gets into a smokin' harp solo with great tone on this track. Go Ahead And Blame Me takes a slower pace and you can actually smell the smoke and alcohol from the club. Really nice track. My Baby's Gone is back to mostly acoustic sound with Riley accompanying himself on guitar and soloing by Corritore. A real nice Chicago sound. Oil Spill Blues is one of my favorite tracks on the release with strong blues building blocks on rhythm guitar and a balance of vocal and harp for music track. Again Corritore steps up and takes a great solo on harp. Laughing Blues is an unusual track featuring subdued melody and primitive singing. An interesting cool down number for a pretty cool release.

Ride With Me - Bob Corritore

Bob and Dave Riley at Buddy Guys Legend in Chicago.

Dave Riley and Bob Corritore play powerful downhome blues deeply rooted in the Chicago and Mississippi styles that represent their upbringing. This deep blues partnership is available as either a duo or a full band. Their zesty performances at the Rhythm Room in Phoenix and the annual Arkansas Blues and Heritage Festival have brought the house down, and earned them a solid reputation as masters of their game. Their first album "Travelin' The Dirt Road", on the Blue Witch record label, was released in 2007 and received 2008 nominations for a Blues Music Award nomination (for Best Acousic Blues Album") and for a Blues Blast Music Award (for "Best Traditional Blues Album"). There second release "Lucky To Be Living", also on Blue Witch and released in 2009 is receiving much fanfare. Riley and Corritore also will be included in a duet performance as part of a forthcoming documentary film on Helena, Arkansas. They have a a natural blues chemistry, and a friendship that prompts their wild, provoking performaces. Dave's gritty Mississippi voice, articulate downhome blues guitar, and rowdy, personable, original songs combine with Bob's passionate, blues seasoned, full-toned harmonica for an engaging performance that entertains both the blues novice and the seasoned listener. In short, Dave Riley + Bob Corritore = Downhome Blues! .. .. About Dave Riley:.. .. Born in Hattiesburg, Mississppi, Dave spent his early years learning Gospel. Barely a teenager he moved to Chicago and ended up living on the westside near Maxwell Street where he was steeped in the blues. It wasn't untill he was drafted to serve in Vietnam that he began to take the blues seriously. .. .. During the time he served in the army he was exposed to many types of music, not only the blues but big band, rocknroll, and jazz. He ended up playing in a military band which traveled from base to base entertaining the troups and sometimes became the opening act for USO shows... .. Dave Riley met up with Blues legends Sam Carr, Frank Frost, and JohnWeston, and revitalized his career in the mid 90s and they formed a friendship and a music bond which would lead Dave back to the Delta and back into Blues full time. Dave has been playing music in the Delta and taking the Delta back to Chicago just like all those Blues men before him. Dave Riley has a highly-acclaimed CD, "Whiskey, Money, And Women" out on the Fedora record label. Visit Dave on the web by clicking ..here..... .. About Bob Corritore:.. .. Growing up in Chicago, Bob Corritore fell in with the blues early on, taking up harmonica at age 13, and learning the harmonica style that gave the city its great blues tradition. A student of Big Walter Horton, Little Willie Anderson, Louis Myers, Big Leon Brooks, and others, Bob played around Chicago with some of the greatest of that city's bluesmen, until relocating in Phoenix in 1981... .. Upon landing in Arizona, Bob's blues influence immediately affected the town, recruiting his friend Louisiana Red to relocate to Phoenix for a period in the early 80's. Bob also has worked extensively with the late Chico Chism, and with Big Pete Pearson, Henry Gray, Robert Lockwood, Jr., Jimmy Rogers, Tail Dragger, Chief Schabuttie Gilliame, Janiva Magness, Tommy Dukes, and others. For a complete history of Bob Corritore, visit his ..website..... .. Bob's long career in the blues has seen him in many other roles. Bob started his own label in Chicago in the late 1970s, called Blues Over Blues, which is now part of the Earwig Records catalog. Bob Corritore is an impresario of Chicago Blues, and his enthusiasm for the genre spreads to all areas of this wonderful music. .. .. Bob and Dave met at the 2004 King Biscuit Blues Festival in Helena Arkansas, and became fast friends and musical collaborators. Dave, who has relatives in Phoenix was soon to visit and now lives in Scottsdale, Arizona half the year. They look at their musical partnership with a long-term perspective... .. .....

Ride With Me - Bob Corritore

Over two-plus decades, Bob Corritore has become one of the most reliable sidemen as a talented blues harmonica player, popular with younger musicians and veterans. This compilation features Corritore in a variety of settings over that 20-year period, with all-star bluesmen galore. Each track singles out his exploits with such notable blues legends as Koko Taylor, Louisiana Red, Robert Lockwood, Jr., Eddy Clearwater, Henry Gray, Pinetop Perkins, David "Honeyboy" Edwards, and Little Milton among countless others. There's no way to pick the best songs (they're all great) unless you favor certain types of blues from boogie, choogling struts, or rough-edged, down-and-dirty Southside Chicago shouts. The funniest track is Nappy Brown's feature "Baby Don't You Tear My Clothes," sung in a deep, ribald manner. In an ultimately classic style, vocalist Lockwood and pianist Gray team up on "That's All Right," while Clearwater takes the cake on an upbeat and joyous "That's My Baby." The lesser known Chief Schabuttie Gilliame cops Howlin' Wolf during "No More Doggin'" and "Tell Me 'Bout It" whiles Louisiana Red comes closest to the immortal style of Muddy Waters. Throughout is Corritore's biting, literate, clean harmonica playing that fortifies, glues together, and inspires these-well known artists. Nothing less than a fantastic collection of authentic American music, Harmonica Blues is a must-have item for any fan of this music.
