Trevor Sewell - Calling Nashville - New Release Review

I just had the opportunity to review the most recent release, Calling Nashville, from Trevor Sewell and it builds on his last release, Calling Your Name. Opening with Some Day, singer /songwriter and guitarist, Sewell crafts a track with traces of pop, Charlie Daniels and Jeff Beck for his new release backed by Kellen Michael Weinrich on fiddle and Trevor Brewis on drums. Janis Ian has the floor on Fade To Grey in a vocal duet with Sewell and piano on this cool jazz number. Blues rocker, Matter Of Time has a taste of Dire Straits with grinding guitar tones and ultra  cool vocals. With a quick shuffle, You Ain't What I'm Looking For has a super feel and snappy guitar riffs. Stand Next To Him pulls in flavors of western styling and the sounds of the range. Sewell's guitar finesse and the fiddle work of Weinrich pull this off nicely with bass by Justin Kimball and Brewis on bass. Very cool. Wrapping the release is ballad, Shadows, featuring Janis Ian on piano and Sewell showing his vocal prowess. A solid track, a good closer for a solid release.

British Blues Awards, Limited Edition Digi-pack and duet with Lorraine Crosby.

Hot on the tail of multiple nominations in the U.S Trevor Sewell has now started to make waves in his home territory – the UK. He is currently nominated in the British Blues Awards for ‘Best Original Blues Song’ for his song ‘Hate Me for a Reason’. The track is taken from his ‘Calling Your Name’ album which has to date amassed 4 separate nominations both in the U.S and U.K.

Calling Your Name is Trevor’s first album since going solo 18 months ago and he is currently in the studio recording a new acoustic Album while working on new material for the next electric follow up to the Calling Your Name album.

A collectors CD is also due for release at the end of April from Austrian based W.A.R records. The limited edition album will feature all of the Calling Your Name Album plus 4 bonus tracks.

One of the bonus tracks is a duet specially written and recorded for the project and features Lorraine Crosby (best known for being the lead voice on the Meatloaf hit – I would do anything for love, but I won’t do that)

Trevor said:

“I’ve always wanted to record with Lorraine as I believe she is one of the best vocalists this country has produced in recent years, I played some dates with her in Germany a few years ago and working with her again in the studio was just great – I’d like to think we may do some more in the future”.

Trevor has just been confirmed for the Maryport Blues Festival and will be playing a series of UK gigs throughout the summer.

British Guitarist Trevor Sewell Nominated in the All Indie Music Awards in Los Angeles.

Trevor Sewell is a British Guitarist/Vocalist and Hollywood (HMMA) Award Winning
Artist who has been widely associated with the current ‘New Wave of British
Blues’ in the United States.

Newcastle born musician Trevor Sewell has been nominated in the prestigious All
Indie Music Awards in Los Angeles the very city where he recently won the ‘Best
Blues’ category in the Hollywood Music and Media Awards.
The All Indie Awards are held in the legendary ‘Key Club’ on Sunset Boulevard on
February 10th 2012 during Grammys week and it will be a full ‘Red Carpet” affair.
Trevor is nominated in the ‘Best Blues Artist’ Category and his album ‘Calling Your
Name’ is also under consideration for the ‘Best Album’ Award.
Trevor who has only recently embarked on a solo career after many years of
playing sessions and touring with other artists said:
“2011 was a very eventful year for me and starting 2012 off like this is just
brilliant, I’m so pleased to be nominated and of course to win another award
would be absolutely amazing. The HMMA Award has certainly raised my profile
particularly in Hollywood and has opened a few doors that I would previously
been unable to get through along the way. There have already been a few
tentative enquiries regarding playing in America and I’ve also been talking with
interested parties in London. I’ll guess I’ll just have to see how it all pans out but
in the meantime I’m keeping busy recording and putting a live band together to
tour the UK later this year “

Hollywood Music in Media Winner Trevor Sewell launches Free App

Trevor Sewell is the triple nominated British Guitarist who recently won
the 'Best Blues Award' in the prestigious Hollywood Music in Media
Awards held in November at the Kodak Complex in Los Angeles.
Online PR News – 02-January-2012 –Trevor Sewell continues to make
real progress since his recent triumph in the Hollywood Music and
Media Awards. To celebrate this he has launched a new ‘Trevor Sewell’
App which is currently available only on the Android Platform' but
promises to be available for Apple devices later in the year. The App
features not only tracks from his current album 'Calling Your Name'
which is steadily gaining momentum in the United States, but also from
his side projects including exclusive early mixes from the new Ad-
Ventures album which is due for release in March 2012.
The Ad-Ventures is an all-instrumental project that fuses the
atmosphere of Film Noir with the darker side of Surf music.
Sewell said " Its an album I've been intending to do for as long as I can
remember and have finally got around to recording it". The first track
that I completed was nominated at the HMMAs and the second track is
currently on hold for a film due for release in the spring of 2012 so I
suppose it points to there being a potential market for it, particularly
among the music supervisor community. The Hollywood Music in Media
Awards have really had a very positive effect on awareness of my
material and I am looking forward to embarking on some new media
projects in the coming year alongside promoting the 'Calling Your
Name" album.
The App itself features music, videos and everything you would expect
from a full functioning app. It is initially only available for Android but an
iPhone app will follow later in the year.
Sewell commented:
"It's great to have the power of Reverbnation behind it as it makes it so
much easier for me to communicate latest news and specials via sms".
The App can be downloaded from the following link:

New release: Calling Your Name - Trevor Sewell

I just got Trevor Sewell's new release "Calling Your Name". This is a really upbeat release that will keep you moving in your seat. Although primarily a vocal dominated cd there are a lot of tasty guitar interludes throughout that bring to mind Dire Straits and flashes of SRV's work with David Bowie. Newcastle born musician Trevor Sewell has received 3 nominations in a prestigious Awards ceremony in the U.S.A. The Hollywood Music and Media Awards are held in November at the world famous Kodak Theatre Complex in Hollywood. Trevor is sure to score well with this new release. "Hate Me For a Reason" being my favorite vocal track and "Gone Too Soon" a very strong instrumental track.
