I started a quest to find terrific blues music and incredible musicianship when I was just a little kid. I also have a tremendous appreciation of fine musical instruments and equipment. One of my greatest joys all of my life was sharing my finds with my friends. I'm now publishing my journey. I hope that you come along!

Northport N.Y. - M.C. Records is proud to announce that they have signed blues and folk master Guy Davis. His delightful and deep recording Juba Dance (MC-0074) will be released in North America on September 10.

The 13 track, stripped down recording contain Guy's own compositions and choice covers by Blind Lemon Jefferson, Rev. Robert Wilkins and Blind Willie McTell.
Juba Dance  features Fabrizzio Poggi on Harmonica and special guest The Blind Boys of Alabama. Click on the cover to check out Guy Davis and Fabrizzio Poggi performing a live version of the track "That's No Way To Get Along."

Guy Davis has been recording artist since 1978. He is a musician, composer, actor, director, and writer.  But most importantly, Guy Davis is a bluesman.  The blues permeates every corner of Davis' creativity. Throughout his career, he has dedicated himself to reviving the traditions of acoustic blues and bringing them to as many ears as possible through the material of the great blues masters, African American stories, and his own original songs, stories and performance pieces. Juba Dance infuses all the influences of Guy Davis into an original sonic journey.

His influences are as varied as the days. Musically, he enjoyed such great blues musicians as Blind Willie McTell (and his way of story telling), Skip James, Manse Lipscomb, Mississippi John Hurt, Elizabeth Cotton, and Buddy Guy, among others. It was through Taj Mahal that he found his way to the old time blues. He also loved such diverse musicians as Fats Waller and Harry Belafonte.

Whether Guy Davis is appearing on “Late Night With Conan O’Brien” or nationally syndicated radio programs such as Garrison Keillor’s, “A Prairie Home Campanion”, “Mountain Stage” or David Dye’s,“World CafĂ©”., in front of 15,000 people on the Main Stage of a major festival, or teaching an intimate gathering of students at a Music Camp, Guy feels the instinctive desire to give each listener his ‘all’.
