Vancouver based guitarist, singer and songwriter Jason Buie has been performing live since the age of sixteen. He has honed his skills over the last fourteen years playing throughout Canada, the U.S.A. and Japan. Along the way he has played and performed with such artists as blues legend Buddy Guy, Taj Mahal, former Rolling Stone Mick Taylor, The Jeff Healey Band, John Mayall, The Powder Blues Band, Big Dave Mclean, Jimmy D. Lane, Wild T, Johnny Ferriera and Jerry Doucette. With the Release of his critically acclaimed CD “Urban Blues” his profile continues to grow. Jason's second C.D" "Live at The Blue Gator" was released in 2009. Jason did Spring and Fall European tour's in 2009 with great success.

Jason was born and raised in Victoria, BC. As an adolescent he explored the roots of American Blues along with other forms of music that spawned from it. Growing up in an artistic home, Jason had the freedom to explore his passion and talent. He would empty his pockets regularly to purchase blues recordings. He idolized such pioneers as Muddy Waters, Howlin' Wolf, The Three Kings: Freddie, Albert, and B.B., Johnny “Guitar” Watson, Buddy Guy, Albert Collins, Jimi Hendrix and others. His love for the blues really blossomed when he witnessed Albert Collins in concert at fifteen years old. “I worked at the local grocery store and I borrowed one the older guy’s id. to get into the show. Albert was amazing; there will never be anyone like him.” From that point on Buie was hooked. Jason has taken his influences and sculpted them into a style of his own. His music remains a well-seasoned gumbo of blues, funk, rock and soul with influences that originate in the Southern States and inner cities of America. Jason’s from the heart vocals and fiery guitar work combined with a charismatic stage presence have caused listeners and critics to take notice. His passion and honesty always comes thru in his live shows.

Too Big To Fail - Whirled Boogie

What is Roots Music? What is considered traditional in modern society? Have you ever had to pull a tangled mess of barbed wire from the blade of an industrial mower? If you’re raised on a farm, you can’t help but sound a little bit Country. If you’re a teenager with a guitar, Rock ‘n’ Roll provides the soundtrack. If you spend enough time on the road, wandering, aimless and alone, the Blues is a natural companion.

There are no stories of blues on the front porch or of a traveling family of gospel singers. Chad Nordhoff first picked up a guitar in the mid-eighties, the heart of the infamous hair-band era. By the mid-nineties the time of the guitar hero had waned and the popular musical landscape sent Chad on a search to understand how we had come to this point. You’d find him in the back of the class listening to tapes of Robert Johnson or Hank Williams on the old Walkman. Chad would spend the next 15 years jamming, traveling, moving south to river towns, and absorbing the history of American music.

Whirled Boogie was born on Beale Street in Memphis, TN. By early 2009, Chad had left the day job behind for the precarious title of full-time musician. After years of his “Electrifying Acoustic One Man Show” the time came to amp things up a bit. Memphis drummer Jason M. Vawter was brought in to drive the spikes and lay a new track for the cross-country freight train that Chad’s guitar style had become.

The duo was never much for rehearsal. Their sound was honed and grooves were tightened in clubs, on stages in Memphis and North Mississippi. So what would you get if Waylon Jennings and members of Led Zeppelin collaborated on a set of Memphis Blues? Whirled Boogie would call it Roots Rock and Blues. Call it whatever you like. Come, spend some time, have a listen!

Hoochie Coochie Man - "Blind-Dog" Gatewood

"Blind-Dog" Gatewood is a native of the Motor City and has been a music teacher, instrument technician and professional musician since the age of 16. He is an award-winning one-man act who has polished his chops in places as diverse as the Sierra Foothills, the Mojave Desert, Mississippi Delta and the streets of New Orleans. In September 2002, he took the first prize in Colorado at the Telluride Acoustic Blues competition. First place winners are honored with a performance on the main stage the following day at the Telluride Blues and Brews Festival for over seven thousand attendees. That same year he won the Kentuckiana Blues Society’s Blues Challenge out of Louisville Kentucky and represented the Society at the International Blues Challenge on Beale Street in Memphis Tennessee. In 2004 “Blind-Dog” was a Finalist for the first Annual International Acoustic Music Awards (IAMA) in the category of AMERICANA/ROOTS/AAA, for his song “TELLURIDE”. In addition, a Simi finalist in 2006 in the International Song Contest (ISC), Blues category, for his song “Monkey On My Back”. In June of 2005, "Blind-Dog" took first place in the Memphis Blues Society's Battle of the Blues solo division on Beale Street and represented them at the 22nd annual International Blues Challenge that January in Memphis. In 2006 “Blind-Dog” wins the Battle of the Blues two years in a row and represented the Memphis Blues Society at the 23rd annual International Blues Challenge, this was his third time to compete at the IBC in Memphis.
“Blind-Dog” was recently crowned “King of the Blues” at the Guitar Center Evansville IN October 2009. Truly, a one-man band, "Blind-Dog" is now based out of Uniontown,Kentucky.

"Dave Widow and the Lineup do an amazing job channeling the authenticity of Blues, covering influential legends like Taj Mahal and T-Bone Walker, without compromising their own style," wrote respected trade publication MUSIC CONNECTION in a recent live show review. Casey Reagan of the AMERICAN BLUES NEWS writes, "coming up on sixty years of age, Papa J still bounces on stage every night with the energy of a guy half his age. A showman by nature and musician by instinct Papa J's stage presence and energy is undeniably huge to anyone who's seen him perform. From his contagious smile to his gut wrenching blues he puts a thousand percent into making every performance mean something special to every person watching and it sure works on me." www.papajandfriends.com.

BVNC features songs like, Dockery's Plantation (for Robert Johnson), World Blues, Slow Burn/Biker Mama, Red Hot Tempered Woman and more, even a bonus track in honor of the late great Phillip Walker. "Getting bit by Jay Gordon's BLUES VENOM - NO CURE is similar to Peter Parker getting bit by a radioactive spider. There is no cure, but that's a good thing," states the world's #1 authority on such matters, BLUES REVUE. "As solid as a blues album can be, and I consider one of the best I have heard this year," the review concludes. www.jaygordonandthepenetrators.com.
