I started a quest to find terrific blues music and incredible musicianship when I was just a little kid. I also have a tremendous appreciation of fine musical instruments and equipment. One of my greatest joys all of my life was sharing my finds with my friends. I'm now publishing my journey. I hope that you come along!

Poor Boy - Tim Aves & Wolfpack

HOWLIN' Wolf was the biggest, baddest, evilest bluesman ever to stalk a stage on planet earth... there'll never be another like him. End of ... simple as that. WOLFPACK (yes, our name IS meant always to be spelled in capital letters!) are NOT a tribute band. We play the music of the Wolf and other blues greats with reverence and love, but also with a large dollop of 21st-century Essex attitude. WOLFPACK was formed by award-winning frontman, writer and broadcaster TIM AVES (Rockin' Armadillos, Automatic Slim) in the dying days of 2009. To the cause he recruited erstwhile Armadillos bandmates, ROB “Tank” BARRY (bass) and PAUL LESTER (drums), plus the hottest young blues guitar talent on the British scene, 24-year-old JOEL FISK. (Joel was voted Favourite Guitarist in the 2009 Digital Blues Awards. He also gigs and records with British Blues Award-nominated Cool Buzz Records artistes HOKIE JOINT.) Occasionally, Joel’s place is taken either by Stuart Dixon (Marcus Malone/Never the Bride/Geno Washingon) or Dino Cooper (2020s/Gentleman Tim and the Contenders/Coalhouse Walker), both monster players in their own right! As the band’s name suggests, the tough, scary blues of Howlin' Wolf is central to the WOLFPACK repertoire, though it touches all points in between Wolf and artistes from Hound Dog Taylor and Muddy Waters to The Red Devils, ZZ Top and the ARC Angels... The lineup made its debut opening for UK blues guitar genius Matt Schofield (Tim was invited to join Matt on stage to blow harp that night) and first appeared as WOLFPACK in January 2010. Since then, regular gigs - including tour-de-force performances before thousands of blues fans at the 2010 and 2011 Ealing Summer Blues Festivals, in London and a headline slot at the 2011 STOWfest at Stowmarket, Suffolk - has seen WOLFPACK’s reputation soar. The band's name is spreading via the many live video clips now available on Youtube through gigs all over the UK and beyond.

Robert Johnson's Shoes - Tim Aves and Wolfpack

A powerful band, fronted by award-winning former Rockin' Armadillos frontman, writer and broadcaster TIM AVES, with erstwhile Armadillos bandmates,ROB BARRY (bass) and PAUL LESTER (drums) and the hottest young guitar talent on the British blues scene today, JOEL FISK, whose main gig is with Cool Buzz Records artistes HOKIE JOINT.

As the name suggests, the tough, scary blues of Howlin' Wolf (Tim's all-time favourite bluesman and number one inspiration) is central to the band's repertoire, though it touches all points in between Wolf and a range or artistes including Hound Dog Taylor, Muddy Waters, The Red Devils, ZZ Top and the ARC Angels...

The lineup made its live debut in opening for UK blues guitar genius Matt Schofield (who invited Tim to blow harp on stage with his band that night) and first appeared under the name, WOLFPACK, in January 2010.

Since then, WOLFPACK has gigged steadily, playing top venues, clubs and festivals, including a tour-de-force performance before a huge crowd at London's biggest annual blues event, the 2010 Ealing Summer Blues Festival.

Club and festival bookings for 2011 including the Bottleneck Blues Club in Rochester, Farnham Maltings, in Surrey, the main stage at the Ealing Summer Blues Festival and Newark Blues Festival in Newark, Notts.

The band was featured in a front cover/three page spread in the Octobver 2010 edition of Blues in Britain magazine and is now working on an album which will be a mixture of material recorded live in the studio and live gig recordings that capture the raw, exciting essence of WOLFPACK's live performances.
