Sean Pinchin - Monkey Brain - New Release Review

I just received the newest release, Monkey Brain (3/18/2016) from Sean Pinchin and it's quite good. Opening with title track, Monkey Brain, Pinchin wastes no time in establishing a solid rock sound with a terrific drum/rhythm beat with Mark McIntyre (bass) and Adam Warner (drums) a great slide riff (Pinchin) on the top. Excellent! Modern rocker, Can't Stand It is a driving rocker with a solid hook and Adrian Belew like guitar sounds. Very cool! Slowing the pace with Charity Case, Pinchin's vocals are solid and his guitar work is spontaneous and cool! Rocker, Hard Luck, has a definite commercial feel putting Pinchin out front primarily on vocal when he handles nicely. Living In The Past has a catchy melody and driving rhythm but Pinchin's guitar tones are infectious. He has an interesting vocal range which gives the track even more texture. Very nice! Goin' Hobo has an interesting southern gumbo sound that reverts to chicken pickin and a quick pace and back. An original sound and an interesting, cool track. Monsters is a foot stomper with great resonator slide work that is fat as you like. Holding tight to a country blues style, Monsters is a kick! Wrapping the release is Get Burned, a well written modern rocker with a driving rhythm, commercial styling and really nice guitar work. This is a really cool release and one that would sneak up on you if you judged it by it's cover. Check it out!
