We Will Miss Dr. Burt
Dr. Burt Will Be Remembered Fondly By All
Dr Burt and Drops
Dom Flemons, Dr. Burt and Rhiannon Giddens at Dartmouth College
We learned late last week that Dr. Burt, an iconic Music Maker artist, passed away surrounded by family in Detroit. We knew that Dr. Burt was having serious health problems, but every time we spoke to him on the phone his outlook was sunny and positive. When Dr. Burt told Aaron that he would be moving to Detroit from his home in Birmingham to be cared for by family, Aaron asked him what Music Maker could do to help. Dr. Burt replied, ever cheerful, "Can you find me some gigs in Detroit?" Tim wrote about his memories of Dr. Burt on the blog here - when we first learned of the seriousness of Dr. Burt's health.

We were saddened by the news of Dr. Burt's passing, but we know that he will never be forgotten. We had the opportunity to meet, work with, document and learn from this amazing man who brought only peace to the world. Read Tim's post about Dr. Burt and his lasting legacy here.

If it's one thing we know about here at Music Maker (besides, well, Music) it's feeding large crowds. We know over the holidays many people experience the need to feed a crowd - and Denise has written a series of blog posts to help out! Check out Celebrate with a Blues Buffet, and then read her planning tips here! Stay tuned for more to come!
Diggin':  Rollin' & Tumblin

Our intern Thomas spent a lot of time with one of our Discovery Artists, Dr. Dixon, this week. He wanted to make sure everyone got to hear this collaboration between Dr. Dixon and Harvey Arnold that he helped record. Check out this awesome, and incredibly fresh, track, and read the Diggin here!
