I started a quest to find terrific blues music and incredible musicianship when I was just a little kid. I also have a tremendous appreciation of fine musical instruments and equipment. One of my greatest joys all of my life was sharing my finds with my friends. I'm now publishing my journey. I hope that you come along!

The Snow Lies Deep - John Fairhurst

Wigan native Fairhurst has been honing his craft on the road combining his passions for people and music for years. The result is an awe inspiring wall of sound rooted in his northern blues background with gritty mournful deep-south attitude and a voice to carry it home. With two independent albums under his belt, 2008’s ‘Joys of Spring’ garnered critical acclaim with The Guardian describing it as “Truly exquisite”. Coupled with his tenacious attitude to touring and following a summer of explosive live shows both in the UK and Europe, John has built on previous festival appearances at Glastonbury, SXSW, Green Man and Edinburgh Festival to widen his audience this year with appearances at Secret Garden Party, Shambala, Boomtown as well as a residency on the Harley Davidson European Tour. His work ethic onstage is reflected in his creative process with collaboration with African Kora master Sekou Kouyate , Joe Driscoll (local posse), world champion beatboxers Reeps One and Bellatrix and underpinned by stickman James Breen , the October release of the long anticipated EP Hungry Blues promises to deliver. Currently in the studio following a grueling 200+ shows across 8 countries this summer John is preparing for a busy few months with the EP release and a November tour with Johnny Winter as well as a series of shows over the Christmas period and into next year. 2013 looks bright in John Fairhurst world.
