I started a quest to find terrific blues music and incredible musicianship when I was just a little kid. I also have a tremendous appreciation of fine musical instruments and equipment. One of my greatest joys all of my life was sharing my finds with my friends. I'm now publishing my journey. I hope that you come along!

Don't Explain - Beth Hart - Joe Bonamassa - New Release Review

I just received the long awaited release by Joe Bonamassa and Beth Hart. Every release that Joe is doing now seems to be reaching in a different direction. He appears to be exploring the musical universe. Where earlier releases we mostly pure blues with a few ballads mixed and exploration into album oriented rock music, in and the later releases "Black Country Communion" he got a little heavier edge. In this release he has teamed up with "Star Search" Winner Beth Hart and really more showcasing her vocal talents with his guitar as a featured instrument. Where Jeff beck has staid the course with only a few vocal interludes with female vocalists, Joe has jumped in with both feet. The duo explores old blues traditional songs, a Melody Gardot ballad,a Billy Holiday number and even a Delaney Bramlett (Delaney and Bonnie) song. The recording is very well done and although not dominant like on many earlier releases, there are still some real biting guitar solos throughout the recording. Each of Joes solo releases over the past few years seems to have leaned toward more airplay and with this release he has likely got it. Every song on the cd is well done and will likely garner mass appeal. Joe deserves a broader audience and I think this well may do it.

Enjoy!
