I started a quest to find terrific blues music and incredible musicianship when I was just a little kid. I also have a tremendous appreciation of fine musical instruments and equipment. One of my greatest joys all of my life was sharing my finds with my friends. I'm now publishing my journey. I hope that you come along!

Fervor Records artist: Craig Erickson - Modern Blues - New Release Review

I just had the opportunity to review the most recent release, Modern Blues, from Craig Erickson, and it's a solid blues rocker. Opening with straight up rocker, Topsy Turvy, Craig Erickson covers lead guitar, bass and vocal with stinging lead riffs and a catchy melody joined by Jeff Sipe on drums. Cool opener. Stormchasin' has a slightly funky feel with Southern rock style slide guitar riffs and a strong dose of Billy Gibbons on top. Bring Love Back Again has a real nice slinky feel with just the right rhythm and Erickson's guitar riffs fit like a glove. Very nice. Blues River really digs in with a solid blues foundation and soulful vocals by Erickson. Erickson shows real passion in his riffs grabbing the bends and holding back for just the right moment. Very cool. Wrapping the release is In The End, a bluesy ballad in kind of a Gilmore/Moore mix. This is a nice closer for a real enjoyable release.

  1. a rockin and frolicking romping stomping head bopper and toe tapper from the git! The recording is quite perfect to my ears and a mix to be coveted. The playing is excellent and the driving rhythm is solid and tight. I got a feeling like I was listening to Bonnie Raitt music and that is about as good as it gets.
