I started a quest to find terrific blues music and incredible musicianship when I was just a little kid. I also have a tremendous appreciation of fine musical instruments and equipment. One of my greatest joys all of my life was sharing my finds with my friends. I'm now publishing my journey. I hope that you come along!

Cool Water - Jimmy "Duck" Holmes

Jimmy "Duck" Holmes is a blues musician and proprietor of the Blue Front Cafe on the Mississippi Blues Trail.
He was born in 1947 to Carey and Mary Holmes, who were sharecroppers.[1] His parents opened the Blue Front Cafe the year after he was born.[1] They had ten children, but also raised four grandchildren when one of their daughters died.
Jimmy Holmes was influenced by Jack Owens, who is part of the Bentonia School of blues musicians.

He was recorded by several people, including Alan Lomax during the 1970s, but didn't release his first album until 2006 on the Broke and Hungry label.
