Too Tight Blues No 2 - Blind Blake

"Blind" Blake (born Arthur Blake; 1896, Newport News, Virginia – December 1, 1934, Milwaukee, Wisconsin) was an American blues and ragtime singer and guitarist.
Blind Blake recorded about 80 tracks for Paramount Records from 1926 to 1932. He was one of the most accomplished guitarists of his genre with a surprisingly diverse range of material. He is best known for his distinct guitar sound that was comparable in sound and style to a ragtime piano.

Little is known about his life. His birthplace was listed as Jacksonville, Florida by Paramount Records in The Paramount Book of the Blues, a publicity publication, but a recently acquired 1934 death certificate from the Milwaukee, WI area lists Newport News as his 1896 birthplace. On one recording he slipped into a Geechee or Gullah dialect, prompting speculation that he was from the Georgia Sea Island region. According to one source, his real name was Arthur Phelps, although concrete evidence for this claim is lacking. The "Phelps" name theory was entirely based on a response given by Blind Willie McTell in an interview conducted in 1955 in Atlanta, who likely met Blake when he passed through McTell's hometown of Statesboro, GA. Recent research has discovered that many of Blind Blake's recordings were copyrighted under the name 'Arthur Blake', and in his two-part recording with Papa Charlie Jackson, "Papa Charlie and Blind Blake Talk About It", the following dialogue is heard:

Jackson: What is your right name?

Blake: My right name is Arthur Blake!

There is only one surviving photograph of him in existence.

His first recordings were made in 1926 and his records sold very well. His first solo record was "Early Morning Blues" with "West Coast Blues" on the B-side. Both are considered excellent examples of his ragtime-based guitar style and are prototypes for the burgeoning Piedmont blues. Blake made his last recordings in 1932, the end of his career aided by Paramount's bankruptcy. Stefan Grossman and Gayle Dean Wardlow think its possible that only one side of Blake's last record is actually by him. "Champagne Charlie Is My Name" does not actually sound like Blake's playing or singing. Allegedly, Blind Blake was drinking heavily in his final years. It is likely that this led to his early death at only 38 years old. The exact circumstances of his death are not known; Reverend Gary Davis said in an interview that he had heard Blake was killed by a streetcar.

A death certificate for "Arthur Blake" is listed by the Milwaukee County Courthouse (John La Fave, Register of Deeds, 901 N. 9th Street, Milwaukee, Wisconsin). It indicated the cause of death as pulmonary tuberculosis. Arthur Blake's grave is in Glendale, Wisconsin, listed as Evergreen Cemetery (now Glen Oaks Cemetery) in a single grave #72, Range #115. It is unmarked as yet (no headstone).

His complex and intricate finger picking has inspired Reverend Gary Davis, Jorma Kaukonen, Ry Cooder, Ralph McTell, Leon Redbone and many others. French singer-songwriter Francis Cabrel refers to Blind Blake in the song "Cent Ans de Plus" on the 1999 album Hors-Saison.

MARTY STOKES & THE CAPTIVA BAND

Marty Stokes was originally raised on Sanibel & Captiva Islands, Florida and has been playing different variations of Blues Music since he was a kid. Raw and melodic, original, and reaching to the emotional core, Stokes will not disappoint the rocker who digs Blues grooves on top of it all. The Captiva Band is named after the Island in the Sub-Tropics, and home to his family since the 1800's. A group of long-time friends, the band delivers the goods with tasteful grooves over Stokes' originals, alongside creative arrangements of covers. Todd Haut, Jennifer Mazziotti, and Carv Clauson make up the 'core' of this group of musical crazies.

Having just released his first CD entitled 'HEAR YOU CALLIN', Stokes encourages Blues lovers to listen to the sound bites / samples, which can be found under the CD Link tab. That's Allright - Johnnie Bassett

Johnnie Bassett (born October 9, 1935, Marianna, Florida, United States) is an American electric blues guitarist, singer, and songwriter. Working for decades primarily as a session musician, by the 1990s Bassett had his own backing band and has since released six albums. He has cited Billy Butler, Tiny Grimes, Albert King, B.B. King and especially T-Bone Walker as major influences.
Born in Florida, Bassett relocated with his family in 1944 to Detroit. As a guitarist in his local group, Joe Weaver and the Bluenotes, they won talent contests, and locally backed Big Joe Turner, and Ruth Brown. In 1958 Bassett enrolled into the United States Army, but on his return to Detroit worked with the Bluenotes as session musicians for Fortune Records. During this time he provided accompaniment to Nolan Strong & The Diablos and Andre Williams. He later backed The Miracles in a short tenure at Chess Records, working on their debut single, "Got a Job" (1958). In concerts while in Detroit, Bassett played on stage alongside John Lee Hooker, Alberta Adams, Lowell Fulson and Dinah Washington.

Basset spent most of the next decade doing gigs in Seattle, also backing Tina Turner and Little Willie John.

The Detroit Blues Society recognized Bassett's contribution to the blues with a lifetime achievement award in 1994. He released the album I Gave My Life to the Blues on the Dutch label Black Magic in 1996, before recording and touring in North America and Europe with his own backing band, the Blues Insurgents. Their 1998 album Cadillac Blues was nominated for five W.C. Handy Awards. His then record label, Cannonball Records ceased to trade, but Mack Avenue Records signed him to a new recording contract, after its owner saw Bassett and his band play in concert in Detroit's suburb of Grosse Pointe.

At the 2003 Great Lakes Folk Festival, Bassett performed as part of the Detroit Blues Revue with Alberta Adams and Joe Weaver. At the 2006 Detroit Music Awards, Bassett won the 'Outstanding Blues/R&B Instrumentalist' title. In both 2010 and 2011, he was awarded the 'Outstanding Blues Artist/Group' title.

Bassett's album, The Gentleman is Back was released in June 2009. In 2010, it won a Detroit Music Award for 'Outstanding National Small/Independent Label Recording'.

Bassett and his band (Chris Codish – keyboards, Keith Kaminski – saxophone, and Skeeto Valdez – drums) currently jam every Thursday at the Northern Lights Lounge in Detroit.

What Kind of Fool/Medley - The Pitbull of Blues Band

The Pitbull of Blues Band is more than just a generic blues band.

As a Florida based band of family and friends, "The Pitbull of Blues Band" enjoys sharing their own breed of Blues with others.

Josh "The Pitbull of Blues" Rowand is the Guitar Slinger and Lead Vocalist. He is an accomplished slide guitarist, harmonica player, singer and songwriter.

Deny Rowand is the bass player and backup vocalist. He has been playing since the great Beatles Scare of 1964 and adds a solid Old School approach to their music.

The guy that keeps the swing in the whole damn thing is Richie Corricelli. Richie brings a bit of attitude to the blues, whether it’s a shuffle, a swing or a very traditional "flat tire" groove.

With over 15 years of playing together in various forms, "The Pitbull of Blues Band" is locked up tight as a trio.

With both Richie and Deny holding down the bottom line in the rhythm department, this provides Josh a solid platform to lay down his own guitar style and bring their music to life.

With their strong rhythm section and barking guitar they hope to showcase the music that they love to play and share that love of the blues with many.

The World (Is Going Up in Flames) - Charles Bradley

Charles Bradley (born 1948, Gainesville, Florida), commonly referred to as "The Screaming Eagle of Soul," is a funk/soul/R&B singer signed to the Daptone Records label under the Dunham Records division. His performances and recording style are consistent with Daptone's revivalist approach, celebrating the feel of funk and soul music from the 1960s and 1970s. One review stated that Bradley "echoes the evocative delivery of Otis Redding".

He is the subject of a documentary, Soul of America, that premiered at SXSW in 2012
Bradley was raised by his grandmother in Florida until the age of eight when, while meeting his mother for the first time, she told him that she wanted him to come live with her in Brooklyn, New York.

In 1962, his sister took him to the Apollo Theater to see James Brown perform. Bradley was so inspired by the performance that he began to practice mimicking Brown's style of singing and stage mannerisms at home.

When he was a young teen, Bradley ran away from home and lived on the streets and in subway cars for two years. Later, he enlisted in Job Corps which eventually led him to Maine to work as a chef. One time while working, someone told him he looked like James Brown. Yet when asked if he could sing, he was too afraid to admit it. Eventually he did, however, overcome this fear and performed five or six times with a band. But after his band mates were drafted into the Vietnam War, the act never re-formed.

Bradley worked in Maine as a cook for ten years until deciding to head west, hitchhiking across the country. He lived in upstate New York, Seattle, Canada and Alaska before settling in California. There, Bradley worked odd jobs and played small shows for 20 years.
In 1996, Bradley's mother called him and asked him to move back in with her in Brooklyn so she could get to know him. It was there he began making a living moonlighting as a James Brown impersonator in local clubs under the name "Black Velvet." During this time, Bradley experienced more hard times, including almost dying in a hospital after being given penicillin (to which he has an allergy) and waking to the police arriving to the scene of his brother's murder just down the road from his mother's house.

While performing as "Black Velvet," he was eventually discovered by Gabriel Roth, co-founder of Daptone Records. Roth introduced Bradley to Daptone artist Tom Brennek, who invited Bradley to his band's rehearsal. Bradley asked that the band simply perform while he made up lyrics on the spot. After writing several songs, with Daptone releasing some of them on vinyl starting in 2002, ten were chosen and released as Bradley's debut album No Time For Dreaming in 2011.

Bradley is currently performing his original material and not as "Black Velvet," but rather as Charles Bradley in venues across America

Outrageous Fusion Blues - Scott Henderson

Born in 1954, Scott Henderson grew up in an era where blues-rock was at it's peak. His formative musical years took place in South Florida where he played the clubs with various bands, playing everything from Led Zeppelin to James Brown. As he was learning his instrument, Henderson was influenced by Jimmy Page, Jeff Beck, Jimi Hendrix, Ritchie Blackmore, and his favorite blues guitarist Albert King. Even though Henderson claims to be more of a blues-rock player, it was the influence of jazz that led him to the style of playing and composing that he is now famous for. Scott finished school at Florida Atlantic University, then moved to Los Angeles where he played and recorded with Chick Corea's Elektric Band, violinist Jean-Luc Ponty, bassist Jeff Berlin and "Players", and a four year stint with Weather Report's Joe Zawinul. Henderson formed the band Tribal Tech in 1984 with bassist Gary Willis, and after ten critically acclaimed albums, with the newest "Tribal Tech X" released on the Tone Center label in March 2012, Henderson has proven himself as a world class player and composer. In 1991, he was named by Guitar World as the #1 Jazz Guitarist, and in January 1992, he was named #1 Jazz Guitarist in Guitar Player's Annual Reader's Poll. His first solo blues album "Dog Party", a welcome retreat to his musical roots, won best blues album of 1994 in Guitar Player Magazine. His second blues album for Mesa/Bluemoon Records, "Tore Down House" was released in April 1997 and pairs Henderson with legendary vocalist Thelma Houston. The album received four star reviews in Jazz Times, Guitar Player, Guitar, Guitar Shop, and L.A Jazz Scene Magazines. Well to the Bone", Henderson's third and most accomplished work as a leader, is a trio record currently being played live by his band featuring Travis Carlton on bass and Alan Hertz on drums. The trio has toured extensively in the U.S., Europe, South America and Japan, playing music from the blues albums as well as some of Henderson's music recorded by Tribal Tech. Scott has also released two albums with "Vital Tech Tones", a trio collaboration with bassist Victor Wooten and ex - Journey / Vital Information leader Steve Smith on drums. He's recently been touring with the HBC Trio, featuring bassist Jeff Berlin and legendary drummer Dennis Chambers. They completed a world tour in November 2011 and are now recording their first album, due to be released in October, 2012. As is often the case with a musician of Scott's caliber, the demand is great that he share his knowledge with the current generation of guitarists. He is on the faculty at Musician's Institute in Hollywood, and has written columns for Guitar Player, Guitar World and Guitar School Magazines. Alfred Publishing has released Henderson's instructional DVD entitled "Scott Henderson - Jazz Rock Mastery", which is a compilation of his two videos "Jazz Fusion Improvisation" and "Melodic Phrasing". Alfred has also released his first transcription book "The Scott Henderson Guitar Book". His other two transcription books, "The Best Of Scott Henderson" and "Scott Henderson - Blues Guitar Collection" are available through Hal Leonard Publishing, as well as his instructional book "Jazz Guitar Chord System", a revolutionary way for students to study the pluralities of jazz harmony. Why Do We Have To Say Goodbye - Mighty Sam McClain

Sam McClain was born on the northern edge of the Bible Belt in Monroe, Louisiana in 1943. As a five year old, he began singing in his mother’s Gospel Church. It was then that he realized singing was his mission.

He left home when he was thirteen to escape an abusive stepfather and followed local R&B guitarist, "Little Melvin" Underwood through the Chitlin Circuit, first as his valet and then as lead vocalist himself at 15.

While singing at the 506 Club in Pensacola, Florida he was introduced to Producer/ DJ, "Papa Don" Schroeder and in 1966, Sam recorded Patsy Cline's "Sweet Dreams" - his first real success. Several recording sessions at Muscle Shoals produced singles, "Fannie-May" and "In the Same Old Way". For
fifteen years, first in Nashville, then in New Orleans Sam worked menial jobs and was forced to sell his plasma while he was homeless. From cotton fields to the Apollo Theater to the park bench, all while living the songs that would jump-start his career in the mid-1980. New Orleans own, Neville Brothers extended themselves at this lowest of times. Sam was offered a chance to tour and record in Japan in 1989. "Live in Japan", featuring legendary Wayne Bennett is a fine recording, much sought after by fans worldwide.

By the early 1990's Sam networked his way to New England through his participation in the "Hubert Sumlin Blues Party" project (produced by Hammond Scott on Black Top), which involved many Boston based musicians. These friends provided encouragement and collaborations, which led to Joe Harley and AudioQuest Music. The results were the successful releases, "Give It Up To Love" and "Keep On Movin". After his move to New Hampshire the momentum continued to build with "Sledgehammer Soul and Down Home Blues". In 1998 Sam had two releases, "Journey" (AQM) and "Joy and Pain -Live in Europe" on the CrossCut label. "Soul Survivor -The Best of MSM" was his farewell to AudioQuest in 1999. ("Journey" and "Soul Survivor" both include "New Man in Town", featured on David E. Kelley's Ally McBeal on FOX-TV). Sam signed on with the Telarc Blues label in 1999, taking his longtime producer Joe Harley with him and recorded W.C. Handy nominated "Blues for the Soul in 2000 and "Sweet Dreams" in 2001 (also Handy nominated)
Sam started to take back his career in 1996 and turned to managing himself. His publishing company, Emily's Son Publishing, has been licensed since 1993 when his original work appeared on "Give "It Up To Love". McClain formed McClain Productions after successfully co-producing his CD's with Joe Harley. And now, the last step of his independence has been realized through the creation of his own label, Mighty Music which release his CD "One More Bridge To Cross" in February 2003. His newest project, "Betcha Didn't Know" which reveals yet another side of MSM was released in July 2009 on Mighty Music with City Hall Records as the distributor. Sam greatly appreciated the nomination of this CD by The Blues Association as "Soul/Blues Album 2010". You can find it in a store near you or order it directly from our web store - stop by and listen!

2008 brought Sam into the "Give US Your Poor" project, benefiting the homeless. He co-wrote (with saxophonist Scott Shetler) "Show Me the Way", which was included in the compilation where he and Jon Bob Jovi sung this stirring anthem as a duet. He continues to work with this project, performing at both The Lincoln Center, New Your City and at The Kennedy Center in Washington and other venues, sharing the stage with Natalie Merchant, and the smashing Greek tenor, Mario Frangoulis as well as the others mentioned on the CD. In early 2009, MSM was asked to record a CD of duets with Iranian folk vocalist Mahsa Vadhat. The resulting CD, "Scent of Reunion-Love Duets Across Civilizations" (www.kkv.no) reached #6 in the European World Music Charts and this is a Mighty Sam McClain that has never been heard before! Mahsa and Sam have had concerts in Norway to celebrate this music. Sam and the guitarist for this project, Knut Reisersrud, are collaborating on a CD that will be recorded in Norway in January 2011. Also, Sam has sung the theme song for Ernest Thompson, (the Oscar winner for "On Golden Pond") for his new film, "Time and Change$. "Find the Sun" is a song written by Thompson and Joe Deleault (keyboards in MSM's band) but is recognizable a song that Sam has made his own. Furthermore, he will have a cameo in the film, singing it! To top it of, Sam has recorded another CD-ready to go, called "Too Much Jesus (Not Enough Whiskey)" and the next music in the works. Pat Herlehy (Sam's guitarist) and MSM have a deep connection that is producing some great music.

Born Under A Bad Sign - Sarasota Slim

HOWDY Y'ALL ! My name is Gene Hardage and I'm also known as Sarasota Slim. I'm a true Florida cracker - born in the panhandle and raised in Sarasota - and yes I am slim. I've been at this music stuff longer than I'd like to admit, luckily this makes me somewhat legendary in certain circles. Help me nurture this myth by playing my music for your friends and even calling your local radio stations and seriously suggesting some Sarasota Slim songs. (now say that 6 times real fast!) Gangster of Love - JP Soars

JP Soars is not a typical blues guitarist. He has a diverse musical background that encompasses a multitude of influences. " I love T-bone Walker, Jesse May Hemphill, Wes Montgomery, Django Reinhardt, Muddy Waters, Johnny Guitar Watson, Guitar Slim and Louis Jordan. But I also love Tito Puente, Miles Davis, Hank Williams, Black Sabbath and Slayer." Soars toured the globe and recorded several records with some of the most extreme metal bands in the world before finding his home in the blues! It is these attributes that are giving Soars an instantaneously recognizable style. ……… "When I first heard JP Soars I knew right away that he was separate from the rest of the pack" Jimmy Thackery……

Soars is also a prolific songwriter, penning a number of tunes in his repertoire himself. His first blues cd Back of My Mind 2008 garnered rave reviews and received a considerable amount of airplay on XM Radio's Bluesville; Comcast digital and other blues stations around the world and continues to do so. Soars' newest release More Bees With Honey 2011 was voted 2nd coolest cd of the year for 2011 by Little Steven and his Underground Garage Xm Radio station! It was also in the top 5 click to pick for weeks on BB Kings Bluesville. Xm Radio. More Bees With Honey has earned Soars a BMA "blues music award" for Best Contemporary Male Blues Artist of the year!

One of the most intriguing components in Soars' musical arsenal is his use of a two-string homemade guitar that he and his brother made. ……"Its basically a plywood box, a stick, two strings and a pickup"…………. By applying a modern approach to a primitive instrument Soars manages to conjure up sounds that usually leave folks in disbelief.

In February 2009 Soars and His Band took home top honors in Memphis TN by winning first place in the IBC "International Blues Challenge" as well as the coveted Albert King award for most promising guitarist. That win combined with Soars' intense work ethic, pure passion for the music he plays, a constant desire to improve and a continual strive for "customer satisfaction" has allowed Soars and Company to develop themselves into an in demand international touring band that is growing day by day, week by week and year after year.

Burning Disk artist: - Sause Boss - Live At The Green Parrot - New Release Review

I just got the new release called Live At The Green Parrot by the Sauce Boss. This cd is a 4 wheel drive party. Killer Tone opens the recording with a song that sounds like a cross between the Beatles and ZZ Top (heavy on ZZ). It's a gritty, grindy sliding good time. Smugglers Cove, loosely based on Rollin' and Tumblin', is another great track and Sauce Boss keeps his resonator and slide hot. Gumbo Recipe is a narrative song that has a jazzy base and Elvin Bishop style delivery. It's a blast. This album just reeks of party! Lonesome Rider cranks up the heat and keeps the gritty slide going over an updated blues base. Sauce Boss is a really cool guitar player and he doesn't hold back. Chicken In The Gumbo is modeled after a James Brown tune, stinky funk. I mean wha wha guitar and funky bass...just waiting for the cape... get down(get on up)! What Was I Thinking is another stripped down blues rocker with great slide work. I mean, if you like grindy slide tone...this is the guy!!! Out In The Night is a ballad like song but takes plenty of time out for some soloing. There is a cool extended slide solo toward the end of the tune which will keep you wanting more. I Can't Sit Down is another funk laden song appropriate for the middle of the party... he even thrown in a few JB lyrics (OWWWWLL)! The guitar work is cool as ever. Lucky Charm is a loping southern style blues. It is a bit more conventional in styling but not a large departure from the balance of the recording. Most of the second half of the song is just to blow off some guitar riffs...how could you not love that! Let The Big Dog Eat gets right into the groove and is an all out slide fest. The Goog begins with some unconventional slide tones and then into a relatively radio oriented track. Paco's Garden, another ballad structured tune has some pretty cool slide. Cathead Biscuit Gospel is a country blues foot stomper. This guy has a great time on this recording and I gotta tell you..so do I. Find a copy. It's great!!

The Voodoo Boogie - LEE PONS

Lee was born into a musical family--dad was a musician playing with big bands such as Harry Belafonte, Duke Ellington and Danny Kaye. At age 16, Lee was already playing in the clubs around town and later he earned two degrees from Julliard. He's a multi-instrumentalist and can play pretty much any style, but jazz and blues are in his blood.
Lee spent a lot of time in New Orleans, where he played in clubs, backrooms and juke joints learning all he could about the New Orleans style of jazz, blues and R&B.

I Can't Be Satisfied - Eric Sardinas and Big Motor

Eric Sardinas (born 1970) is an American blues-rock guitarist born in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. He is noted for his use of the electric resonator guitar and his live performances. He sometimes sets his guitar alight on stage and during shows. In 2000 in Sydney, Sardinas suffered third degree burns to his left wrist.

Sardinas began to play the guitar at age six and leaned toward vintage recordings by such Delta bluesmen as Charlie Patton, Bukka White, Big Bill Broonzy, Elmore James and Muddy Waters. Although he was left-handed, he eventually started to play right-handed.

In 2002, he featured on the Bo Diddley tribute album Hey Bo Diddley - A Tribute!, performing the song "Ride On Josephine".

BLAST OFF - Nobel "Thin Man" Watts

Noble "Thin Man" Watts (February 17, 1926 – August 28, 2004) was an American blues, jump blues and rhythm and blues saxophonist. He primarily played tenor saxophone. Allmusic journalist Bill Dahl considered Watts "one of the most incendiary fire-breathing tenor sax honkers" of the 1950s.
Born in DeLand, Florida, Watts studied violin and trumpet in his youth, later switching to sax. He gained musical training at Florida A&M, where he played in the school's marching band with future saxophonist Cannonball Adderley. Hired to play with The Griffin Brothers after college, Watts began his professional career. During the 1950s, he would work with Lionel Hampton, Dinah Washington, Jerry Lee Lewis, Buddy Holly, Chuck Berry, the Everly Brothers, and others. He also appeared on American Bandstand with Johnny Mathis in 1957, and performed in the house band at a Harlem club owned by boxer Sugar Ray Robinson.

Watts's career would eventually decline by the mid-1960s. He played lounge music in parts of Florida before being "rediscovered" by record producer Bob Greenlee. He made a minor comeback in 1987, and worked for Greenlee's record label.

In 2004 Watts died of a combination of pneumonia and emphysema. He is survived by his wife June and daughter, Natalie Watts Brown.

No Such Thing - J R Fibonacci Hunn

"I could care less what puppet sits on the throne of this empire. The one who controls the money supply controls the empire and I control the money supply!" Mayer Von Rothschild, paraphrased from what he apparently said back in the late 1700s

"Money- like US Dollar paper currency units- represent access to the actual energy to perform work. Oil IS a very concentrated form of the actual energy to perform work. Which do you really think is most important: the actual fuel itself or the paper contract financial instrument promise coupon that is possibly redeemable eventually for the actual fuel itself?" paraphrasing of Richard Heinberg

A Broken Word - Teague Stefan Band

As one of Central Florida’s hardest working musical acts, the three-piece Teague Stefan Band combine elements of blues, rock and funk to create a solid wall of electric guitar-driven sound that can be described as complex, aggressive and pounding: a full-bodied style that gives a subtle nod to power trios of the 70’s and artists from Hendrix to Stevie Wonder that remains refreshingly original and, above all, crowd pleasing.
The band’s repertoire includes their second full-length studio album Game Of Life, in which Teague Stefan, the songwriter, vocalist and guitarist for his eponymous three piece group, employs his talents in musicianship and composition. Stefan shows his range on the album, a textured, well-flowing arrangement of numbers such as the bluesy, soulful 'Power Of A Woman', the funky, heavy 'No Matter What' and the blistering 'One More Night'. There is no post-production trickery employed here; Stefan’s guitar is just as, if not more, intricately fiery during the band’s live shows as it sounds on the album.
Indeed, the Teague Stefan Band is at home on stage, delivering with each live performance. Supporting Stefan are bassist Todd Warsing and drummer Dave Marder, accomplished and professional musicians who provide the firm rhythmic foundation for Stefan’s blazing guitar. The members of the band are perfectly synchronized, effortlessly meshing thanks to numerous shows and countless hours of practice. The group has appeared at the Orange Blossom Blues Society show at Hard Rock Universal, twice at George’s Music Springing the Blues, the Lakeridge Winery Blues Festival and at the Orlando Magic Family Day at the Amway Arena. The band continues to perform frequently at various local clubs and bars in the Central Florida area.
Stefan, who has played guitar since the age of seventeen, lists his major influences as Jimi Hendrix, Freddie King, Albert Collins, Stevie Wonder and Steely Dan. He has created his own brand of music that cannot be confined to either blues or rock, as it contains aspects of both (along with funk).
But ultimately the Teague Stefan Band defies an accurate description; seeing the band perform live is perhaps the only way to truly experience their raw, untapped talent. Stefan, Marder and Warsing are entertaining to say the least, with vibrant stage presence that exudes energy and charisma, but these are serious musicians; frontman Stefan exhibits complete control over his guitar, handling even the fastest of songs with effortless precision, flooding the stage with his original, jaw-dropping sound that one must experience live to truly comprehend. Although it’s been said before, it’s true: this is a band you don’t want to miss.

Same Old Blues - Sarasota Slim

HOWDY Y'ALL ! My name is Gene Hardage and I'm also known as Sarasota Slim. I'm a true Florida cracker - born in the panhandle and raised in Sarasota - and yes I am slim. I've been at this music stuff longer than I'd like to admit, luckily this makes me somewhat legendary in certain circles. Help me nurture this myth by playing my music for your friends and even calling your local radio stations and seriously suggesting some Sarasota Slim songs.
