Opening with a track that became BB King's trademark, The Thrill Is Gone, Brad "Guitar" Wilson lays out a more calm arrangement with a rockier beat and more contemporary vocals but echoing trace King riffs. With electric piano and keys by Luca Catalfamo, Fabrizio Erba on bass and Toto Poznantek on drums, this is a solid opener. Percy Mayfield's classic, Hit The Road Jack, has an uptempo reggae beat, with essential backing vocals by Paulina Campos and Valerie Chanelle, bassist Hal Cragin thumping the accents and dynamic drumming by Adam Gust, with a open slate for Wilson's fleet guitar soloing. Very nice.
Old school rocker, Let's Dance Tonight, presented as a poppy shuffle features Wilson on vocal and Chris Rhyne on keys with nicely placed guitar solos by Wilson and backing vocals Paulina Campos and Valerie Chanelle. Home has a solid radio track with a solid bottom by Adam Gust and mostly rhythm guitar backing his own ballad like vocals. San Francisco Nights has a poppy, Steely Dan or Boz Scaggs like feel and I feel Wilson's vocals really work nicely on this track. A clean, articulate guitar solo by Wilson and nicely blended backing vocals by Campos and Chanelle really add significant color to the track making it the top radio track on the release. Soulful, Sky Full Of Rain, is my favorite track on the release with a nice call and response, Wilson with himself, With atmospheric keys by Catalfamo, Poznantek on drums and Erba on bass, a strong entry to the set. Wrapping the release is classic, Cry Me A River, featuring Wilson as balladier, accompanied by Rhyne on keys and Pozantek on drums and giving way to Wilson, soaring with Gary Moore like phrasing. Excellent closer.
