I started a quest to find terrific blues music and incredible musicianship when I was just a little kid. I also have a tremendous appreciation of fine musical instruments and equipment. One of my greatest joys all of my life was sharing my finds with my friends. I'm now publishing my journey. I hope that you come along!

Desert Inside - David Migden and the Dirty Words

David Migden & The Dirty Words are an exciting electric five piece, performing unique original material in a genre-busting crossover of rock, blues and twisted American roots. David Migden was raised in Little Rock Arkansas and moved to the UK as a teenager. After playing and touring around London and Europe, initially in the Lee Sankey Group with Matt Schofield and Ian Siegal, he then teamed up with ‘The Dirty Words’ and released ‘Second Hand Tattoo’ to a fantastic response from critics and fans alike. Gigs across London and the Southeast followed at venues such as The Jazz Cafe, Dean Street Pizza Express, Ronnie Scott’s, the Borderline, and the American Embassy. The band members have played with many other internationally renowned artists including Robert Plant, James Brown, Corinne Bailey Rae, Snowboy, Ian Shaw, Matt Berry, Hamish Stuart (Average White Band), Andy Newmark (Sly & the Family Stone, Roxy Music, John Lennon, Bowie), and have gained a reputation for putting on fantastic shows that focus on David’s incredible songs.

David Migden and The Dirty Words

I started playing the French Horn (the one with the hand up its flu) and played in a lot of youth orchestras and bands in Kent and ended up playing at the Royal Albert Hall (I’ll have you know). I then started singing and met Joe Gibson and from then on it all went down hill! I gigged and still gig as Migden & Gibson professionally as an acoustic duo. We supported some big blues artists and were played and talked about Bob Harris and Paul Jones. I then did a blues album with Lee Sankey (an amazing harmonica player) and Matt Schofield (who is now an internationally renowned blues guitarist). The album was engineered by Phil Brown who worked with Bob Marley, Robert Palmer and many more which was a great experience. We toured around Europe with the album ‘My Day Is Just Beginning’, this was an enjoyable learning curve for me. At this point I started to write my own material and went on to record an album called ‘Little Stranger’ with an amazing Bass player called Don Richardson. This album was well received and reviewed by the Guardian, the Times, Timeout and was played on Radio 2. I also played with Jamie Cullum during this time who supported me and the album. I then started to write with a more bluesy and anarchic style of composition and from that was born THE DIRTY WORDS. David Migden and the Dirty Words

David Migden & The Dirty Words are an exciting electric five piece, performing unique original material in a genre-busting crossover of rock, blues and twisted American roots. David Migden was raised in Little Rock Arkansas and moved to the UK as a teenager. After playing and touring around London and Europe, initially in the Lee Sankey Group with Matt Schofield and Ian Segal, he started to write his own tunes and released his first album ‘Little Stranger’. He then teamed up with ‘The Dirty Words’ and released ‘Second Hand Tattoo’, as well as featuring on the soundtrack of the ‘Mr Nice’ film about Howard Marks, performing the aptly named ‘Don’t Bogart That Joint’. David Migden & The Dirty Words are now releasing their eagerly awaited second album ‘Killing It’ which promises to be their best so far, and this band’s best will be something to behold.
