I started a quest to find terrific blues music and incredible musicianship when I was just a little kid. I also have a tremendous appreciation of fine musical instruments and equipment. One of my greatest joys all of my life was sharing my finds with my friends. I'm now publishing my journey. I hope that you come along!

Rolled and Tumbled - Rosalie Hill

Rosalie Hill was Blind Sid Hemphill’s guitar playing daughter and was recorded in 1959 by Alan Lomax. At that time it was considered quite dangerous for a woman to play guitar in front of an audience (believed by some to have something to do with the phallic nature of the guitar neck) and Hill herself confessed to Lomax that she did indeed feel ‘funny’ about doing it, despite her obvious skills.
