I started a quest to find terrific blues music and incredible musicianship when I was just a little kid. I also have a tremendous appreciation of fine musical instruments and equipment. One of my greatest joys all of my life was sharing my finds with my friends. I'm now publishing my journey. I hope that you come along!

Blissed Out productions artist: David Ducharme-Jones - A Loud Guitar - New Release Review

I just received a new recording, A Loud Guitar, by David Ducharme-Jones. This album is certainly not mainstream blues but of course has blues attributes...what doesn't. Long Way To Fall is a straightforward rock track along the lines of Golden Earring but concludes with a David Gilmore like guitar passage which is pretty sweet. I Am A Diamond puts me in mind of early JJ Cale work with some interesting guitar work as well as steel guitar. The vocals and composition are well performed and complimented with crisp guitar accompaniment. Left Done takes a definite step in the direction of country rock. The track really puts me in mind of Joe Walsh and Tom Petty (I know...go figure), but it should get strong airplay. Earth Rolls Over is a solid ballad and melodically interesting. Another track that could easily attract air. On Welcome To Nashville DDJ pulls out Johnny Cash's road map and lays down a solid foot stomper. I Ain't Ever Going Home gets a foot in the funk but keeps it more along the lines of Little Feet. DDJ takes the opportunity on this track to flash his guitar card and shows what he's got. My Soul And You, another ballad takes a look at blue eyed soul and again DDJ gets the opportunity to show some soulful guitar riffs. Ruby is a straight up country rocker right off the juke box. No, the great guitar tone exhibited on the track didn't get by me. Overall a solid recording that should pull from a broad listener base.
