I started a quest to find terrific blues music and incredible musicianship when I was just a little kid. I also have a tremendous appreciation of fine musical instruments and equipment. One of my greatest joys all of my life was sharing my finds with my friends. I'm now publishing my journey. I hope that you come along!

Matthew Davidson - 13-year-old Sensational Singing Guitarist

Matthew Davidson is an accomplished guitarist and vocalist from Shreveport,
LA. He got his first toy guitar at the age of 3, and he hasn't stopped playing since!
He started taking weekly lessons on an acoustic guitar in the second grade and
won his first electric guitar in the 2007 James Burton Guitar Showdown. Matthew
performed in the Youth Showcase at the 2011 International Blues Challenge in
Memphis, TN and while there jammed at the B. B. King Blues Club. He also was
selected to perform in the “Texas 10 under 20 Showcase” at the Dallas
International Guitar Festival. He has played at the B.B. King Museum and the
B.B. King Homecoming Concert in Indianola, MS and the Delta Blues Fest in
Greenville, MS, where in addition to his own set, he sat in with Honeyboy
Edwards for a few songs. Matthew played at the Cat Head Delta Blues store and
the famous Ground Zero Blues Club in Clarksdale, MS during the 2010 Sunflower
River Blues and Gospel Festival. Matthew has performed at New Orleans
JazzFest, Music City Texas Theater in Linden, TX, The Strand Theatre, and on
the stage of the legendary Municipal Auditorium, home of the famed Louisiana
Hayride. Matthew has had the honor of sharing the stage with Joe Osborn, Kenny
Wayne Shepherd, Brady Blade, Maggie Warwick, Robin & The Bluebirds, and
Patrick Stump from Fall Out Boy.
Most recently, Matthew was selected to be the guitarist for the 2011 “Kidd Kraddick in the Morning” Rock Camp
Band. The week-long camp was held in July at the Kidd Kraddick studio in Irving, Texas. Four young musicians
were selected from a group of over 300 applicants. During the camp, the band, named Breaking Even,
composed an original song which was professionally recorded, created a music video, and performed live on
the air on Kidd Kraddick in the Morning, which is a nationally syndicated radio show. The single recorded by the
band, “You Won’t Admit”, is available on iTunes.
Matthew’s 3-piece band, The Matthew Davidson Band, made their debut on June 25, 2010 and they are quite a
sensation in Louisiana and surrounding states. They have already been invited to perform at the 2012 New
Orleans JazzFest! They were recently selected as one of the top five bands for 2011-2012 in Shreveport-
Bossier by a survey of thousands of residents at LocalsLoveUs.com. They were a hit at The King Biscuit Blues
Festival and the State Fair of Louisiana, as well as at the House of Blues Dallas! Their ever-growing list of
festival performances includes: KTBS 3 Independence Day Festival, Natchitoches Jazz/R&B Festival, Going
Green on the Red Festival, Holiday in Dixie, AlleyFest in Longview, East Texas State Fair in Tyler, The
Mississippi Blues Marathon in Jackson, and The T-Bone Walker Blues Fest in Linden, TX. In addition to
festivals, The Matthew Davidson Band has appeared at numerous area venues, including Tunes and Ten Pins
at Holiday Lanes, Madison Park El Chico, the CenturyTel Center, the Barnwell Center, and many other
community events, and private parties.
